On another note, I doubt we're looking for interior hogs but I think Khyiris Tonga is going to be a good player if he ends up in the right scheme. He's a load of a human being. Probably a better fit for a 3-4 nose or maybe even end. Not much to see from a space eater at a pro day other than size and bench press if he does it though.

They also have Brady Christenson (OT) and Milne working out today.

So do you think Sam's accuracy issues are fixable? Overblown? What your take on Sam?

While I listened to - and agrreed with - your touting of Mahomes, I confess to being a doubter witl Allen. In my defense I will say that the improvement he's shown in his accuracy is almost unheard of after entering the NFL. But I wonder how much of this improvement is with him, or more from the scheme they built for him the quality of receivers he has?

In any case, you're still one of the guys I rely on here for good analysis.

His accuracy issues stem from his atrocious footwork. So “in theory” it’s fixable but his footwork is getting progressively worse than better year to year.

I am not talking for anybody. I am simply stating fact. Many NFL personel drooled over his potential but nobody could even have dreamed he would be THAT special. Like HoF for 4 years in the league like. Also the Chiefs also empowered him with a great supporting cast. With the Jets he would not have had that same talent around him.

Milne might be an option, especially if they do take Wilson.

    .

I thought Allen was pretty accurate when he wasn’t trying to throw the skin off the ball. A lot of his wild inaccurate throws in college came when he was attempting to force the ball & ignored his mechanics. Pretty easy fix. Also they played a pro style offense with mostly intermediate & long difficult throws w/o the WRs for it. He didn’t have a lot of those easy CMP% boosting bubble screens like Sam & Baker had on like half their throws.

In hindsight I can see this, but at the time I didn't. And I have to say that's why I wouldn't make any claims to being any kind of great QB evaluator - I don't have the experience to really see - at game speed, or even sometimes in slo mo - the level of detail necessary. But I do feel pretty good about my ability to judge on a "holistic" basis if that makes sense. In Mahomes's case, even if I couldn't identify the pieces, I could see at an overall level that he was special, and a lot of that was his arm talent which you'd have to be blind to miss. But it was also how he played the game and seemed to be able to consistently make something out of nothing. I know you don't agree, but this is the combination I see in Wilson, if not quite to the same level.

I think so many draft pundits missed on Mahomes & Allen so now they are over compensating with Wilson. 3-5 years ago he’s not considered at 2 IMO.

It's not me that you're agreeing/disagreeing with, it's you - you responded to my reservations about his build a few months ago, I just copy/pasted your response from December. :D

There are people that see something very special with Wilson and apparently the Jets might be one of that team.

All the talks went from Jets trading down to we select Wilson. They definately are confident about him being special if it is the case.

I see Wilson’s improvisational ability. I just don’t see it being at or near Mahomes level. Same goes for his arm talent.

I went back and watched Wyoming a bit more these past couple years and that stadium is pretty damn hard to throw in. Open ended end zones on both sides. If it's a windy night it eats the ball alive. The kid from Hawaii in that wide open offense averaged 250 yards per game in all other games and then walked into Wyoming and could barely complete a pass.

This is a franchise altering decision and I am so confident in the staff we have present to make that decision.

Haha damn good catch. I won't walk back that I think he has the country strength but I will walk back and agree in that I do care what he's listed at. I honestly thought he'd be closer to 230 than what he came in at.

I think our difference may be a matter of degree. I too don't see Wilson as being equal to Mahomes, but I think I see him much closer that you do. That's okay. We'll see what actually happens once he plays on Sunday.
