So I'm watching the Wash-Dallas game and realize that Brian Schottenheimer may be available this offseason... Rex and Schotty, it is all starting to come together, boys!
Agreed! So, last sign in I was on page 42 of the thread. Reading up through to 51 here and nothing has changed. When in the hell did Todd Munken's name start floating up. Geez...that dude was in COLLEGE not but 2 years ago. So, when did his name pop up? ONE thing you folks need to assess, as you are digging for ludicrous names for head coaches is the QB they have. Munken has a guy that has been a league MVP and is still IN the running for MVP trophies. Ben, in Detroit, has Goeff. The NY Jets have NONE of that and a track record for drafting QB's and blowing them to hell before their 4th year. Some they don't destroy to the point where they have a career after NYJ (see Darnold/Smith) others never see the field again (helloooo Zach Wilson!). At this point, I have NO idea who they are going to cajole, sucker, lie to or buy off but the absolutely 100% unequivocal fact is I'm not going to like any of them. I wanted Harbaugh, realistic or not, last year and would have signed off on a $200 million contract over 10 years to get it done. That didn't happen and I see NO ONE even CLOSE to Harbaugh coming free any time soon. For the NY Jets to have any hope at all they need a Harbaugh, McVay, Shanahan type of guy to come and then tell Wood-RUFF to shut his mouth (his kid too) and stay as far away from the team building as is possible. That includes all the holidays as well. Conversation goes like: "Woody, I'm going to need for you to essentially disappear. Your rugrat too. I don't care if you own the team, how's that been working for ya. You want me, insert aforementioned 3 names, I want $200 million and a, written in blood, full guarantee you won't be anywhere NEAR the building, the draft, anywhere..."
It’s looking like Vrabel to NE…. My prediction is the Jets do what Jets do— Settle for a ”respected” coordinator like Aaron Glenn, Slowick or Coen. They lead us to 4-7 win seasons and we’ll be talking about the same thing in a few years. I’ve scaled back on my Jets intake because this is literally like watching a movie on rerun. To change this team, we need a complete and total culture shift that only a proven leader can lead. Not a slightly above average coordinator or circus leader Rex will bring. I was begging for harbaugh last three years and now the Chargers are benefiting from smart decision making. Now lets all get ready to pretend to be excited when we see the nice welcome home articles for Aaron Glenn in two weeks—
Another sign that last year was the year to make changes. Woody already knew he couldn't count on Saleh given that he fired him just five games into the season, so why not do it last year when the potential coaching candidates were much better than the ones available this year. It's going to be either Rex or Aaron Glenn and next season is going to make this one look like a fond memory. No coach, no QB, less talent on the roster after even more of it bolts in the offseason. 2025 is going to be awesome.
I am NOT a religious guy, that's a topic for a different day/forum. HOWEVER, I PRAY Aaron Glenn stays away from this team!!! Let me explain. Aaron Glenn is one of my all time favorite Jets. Loved the guy. It would crush me to see his coaching career derailed by coming to a flippin' disaster area dumpster fire.
I'm not even going to bother to pretend to be excited about it. We all know how that's going to end, with him being fired after 3 years and this team being even worse off than it is now, and the legacy of an all-time great Jet being ruined, through no fault of his own, by this dumpster fire of a franchise. I have no desire to see Aaron Glenn come here. He was, and still is, one of my favorite Jets and having him come in here and have a promising coaching career derailed by coming to this raging dumpster fire would be disappointing beyond belief.
Putting the stats aside - I remember being impressed by MLF's play calling and play design. He was creative and unpredictable. It felt like we were running a modern system. He designed plays to get our best players the ball in space and it wasn't obvious when we were going to run or pass.
That must have been why he was fired. Woody and Saleh were both thinking "you have to run it up the middle on 1st down. That's how football works."
But again where was that at the end of 2022? Downing actually had some good moments as well this season where I thought the play call was good, but someone fucked it up. I do think MILF is good, and is probably even better now after a few seasons with McVey. But JD put him in position fail by terrible roster construction, particularly on the OL, which is the canvas necessary for the OC to work with. And he did fail. The same applies for QB also for the most part, which is why Sam failed here as well, and even Zach to some extent, though he had other issues as well.
I couldn’t get past the fucking Fields suggestion. Might be time to forget my password for a few months…
Patriots just fired Mayo. Vrabel clearly used the Jets as leverage. He definitely going to New England. Get Flores in here asap please....
