Agree, not easy, but suspect Vrabel learned his lesson. Ironically, we had a good one in the making with Saleh and we fired the wrong guy.
Kingsbury is an intriguing option….offensive coach, HC experience…wouldn’t mind if we hired him. I am ok with Vrabel also, just not ecstatic really as I’d prefer an offensive guy…but I do see him as a high floor maybe lower ceiling type hire… I wouldn’t puke if it were him, but I also wouldn’t be doing cartwheels
"...a good one in the making with Saleh..." Good for what? Discipline? Clock management? Pre-snap penalties? Sloppy play? Losing games? Are you related to the guy?
I am watching Baltimore take apart the Browns today Let’s get the Offensive guru Todd Monken to come here and save the Jets. Good idea?
I thought he was referring to MLF as being the "good one in the making with Saleh" but we fired him for Hackett.
Indeed. Washington now is #5 in points and #4 in yards. He does have Jayden Daniels though, this guy is special, it's always hard to judge when you have such elite QB talent. Head coaching record wasn't great, though Arizona is not doing much better without him. Definitely someone to consider though.
His teams improved each of his first three years en route to a playoff berth (in the best division in football that year). Then they got off to a rocky start in year 4, Kyler got hurt and the wheels fell off (obviously). Kliff got a raw deal in Arizona IMO and is a good candidate. He strikes me as the type of guy who will turn down offers to bad situations though and we present just that.
How about in College? He got fired from Texas after two losing seasons. I am definitely not against him though, I am liking this idea more and more since @Jets79 brought it up. And looks like the Jets do want to interview him.
No, he never coached at Texas. He was 35-40 at Texas Tech. I don’t really care though I wouldn’t be hiring him to build a college program starting in 2013 before NIL, I’d be hiring him to coach my NFL team.
He for sure does. He makes $2 mil a year at espn and that’s about the average for a D coordinator in the nfl. Plus, you barely work any hours on tv compared to the 70+ a week as a coach. He makes way more now.
The ideal situation is this: Hire Ben Johnson. Literally back a brinks truck up to his house. Let Ben choose his GM so he gets to shop for the groceries. Convince Rex to take the DC role and back the brinks truck up to do that. Trade for Trevor Lawrence and keep Davonte with Garrett. Cut all the dead weight like ARod and Mosley. similar path Detroit took that led them to where they are now. The culture needs change and the only way to do that is swag (Rex) and sound X’s and O’s (Ben). Along with talent on the roster which we have. We need a talented young Quarterback that has been in the trenches. Jags might want to move on from Lawrence if they have a shot at the Florida kid Cam Ward
