Yeah, but that's not necessarily a skill. A guy who gets into jams a lot is (eventually) going to give up runs.
Man... you're in the middle of a pennant race. Playing in a big series. How the hell do you put your Gold Glove first baseman in LF? Honestly. Is Lowell's bat really that much of an upgrade over Reddick to sacrifice that defense in LF?
Lots of baserunners and only 1 run is a lot better than lots of baserunners and lots of runs. At least he is making quality pitches when it matters. And I don't know why the fuck Youks is in left field. There are a thousand combos better than what they have out there. Sooner or later they need to think about benching Oritz and making Lowell the DH because they need his bat but his glove is killing them.
On the bright side, losing the no-no means Girardi won't be tempted to leave Sabathia out there for 140 pitches. He's at 92 now. Let CC take care of the seventh, then Hughes > Mo.
If Sabathia gets thru the 7th unscathed I'd let him pitch the 8th, or at least see how he looks And we finally may be able to get to Buccholz this inning
Agreed, but it really depends on where he's at. If it's a ten pitch inning, sure. If it's a relatively clean 20 pitch inning, nah. Just bring in the fresh guy to start the inning... don't wait for trouble.
If CC gets through the seventh, I think it'll be tough to overmanage this situation. Doesn't get more textbook. ETA: OF course, that's IF he gets through. Girardi have anyone up yet? He should.
