I don't even want to think about Boston anymore. They're worlds better with Gagne, and they were already good to begin with. It's just not worth thinking about anymore IMO. The WC is still within our reach, but again, it's still going to take really hard work, and consistency. --------------------------- Johnny Damon out of the lineup tonight. Duncan DHing.
Damon has been good lately but so has Duncan..I would hope that change has been made because they are pitching a leftie. I disagree on Boston being worlds better. They are better but only in the bullpen where they were already good. The BP means nothing if your starters can't get a lead. Lately Boston's haven't been as good as they were earlier in the year or maybe it's just that their offense hasn't been scoring as many runs. In either case they are losing games at a better clip then we are. If they got Santana I would have said they were worlds better.
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree for now, until everything shakes out. No biggie. Speaking of Santana, I read on ESPN today that he is unhappy with Minny. He seems like he doesn't want to be there anymore. I would LOVE to bring him here, but I don't know if we could afford to give up what it would take to bring him in. His contract does expire after next season though, so maybe in '09.
they yankees wont wait til the end of mext year...I see a trade for santana beofre the deadline next year.....but thats a long way away
I wonder what the record is for home runs in back to back games. Boston losing, Cleveland tied (no place for Giambi right now except on the bench)
I can all but guarantee he'll be in pinstripes before the winter meetings end. But you're right, that's a long way off.
The price and I don't mean money is going to be huge..I wonder just how much we would or wouldn't be willing to give up.
That's exactly what I meant in the original post. They are going to want top-flight players in exchange. It may be another situation where we'd be better off waiting the extra year.
We would. They will still trade him and hopefully it's only a rental and I can't imagine it wouldn't be. 1939 Yankees had 13 home runs in a double header (not consecutive games over 2 days) against Philly
sheesh...it's now at the point where I can't wait for Arod to get this out of the way so he can get back to normal hitting
Bruuuuuney gets the 1-2-3! Another 5 homers tonight; Posada(2x), Canue, Jeter and Duncan. 8-1 NY wins.
Interesting..Chamberlain didn't pitch in tonight's Scranton game as he was scheduled to. I wonder if he was held out because he's coming up or he wasn't ready after Monday. Oh, and Igawa took the loss...haha Ah, I see...they moved him to Trenton and he did pitch. 3 batters, 2 SOs. Moved him closer to NYC it seems.
Chamberlain went down to Trenton to pitch (to make room for someone else on Scranton, so I hear). He threw one inning. No hits. No walks. Two K's. Link to Box Score EDIT: Never mind... it was because the Scranton team is heading on a road trip, while the Trenton team will be closer to NY. So it'll be easier to call him up if he's at Trenton.
baltimore blew it o else we'd be 6 out in the div but texas came back to beat Cle s only 2 back of the WC- not bad for a team that was dead months ago.
Good article on Chamberlain and Kennedy. Just one more place they say Chamberlain will be up this week too. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/...01&content_id=283194&vkey=news_milb&fext=.jsp Our '09 rotation might be Wang, Hughes, Kennedy, Chamberlain and Sanchez which could be one of the best if not the best in baseball and only costing us Wang's arbitration number leaving us all the money we need for Arod and any other position player we may want. Cashman is starting to look brilliant even with those few Igawa type mistakes thrown in.
Wow, the coming series are looking more and more critical as the days go by. We really need to be able to keep up this kind of pace when the games get tough though.
