Well, I don't know if the key is so much whether a guy is right or not, so much as is the way Joe uses them the correct way.

Hopefully Farnsworth got through to Joe, and he takes advantage of this opportunity. When he's on, he has lights out potential.

Maybe Myers will be gone soon. Villone too. It's time to start cleaning up the pen, and that starts with guys who are only effective in "scenario" spots, which Myers actually isn't even good at anyway.

I've always wondered why he was going to hand the team to his son-in-law first. Does Hal truly love the team? I would hope so. As much as George has been a pain in the ass in the past (specifically the 80s,) he's always been consistent in his absolute love for the team, and passionate desire for success. To me, that's what an owner should be.

They say he does and Hank is more a bottom line profit guy. Not sure anybody could be as passionate as George though. Hal did make it clear yesterday that if anything happens to his father the plans are to never sell the team. It will always be in the family.

What a slaughter last night...Everytime I look up the Yanks are slamming one out of the park. I'm really happy Cano is hitting well, and his power has been noticeable over the last 2 months...

I did kind of laugh when the whole team scores 16 runs and ARod goes 0-5, what a stat padder! Anyway, his outs were hit pretty well.

haha..well, that was one night he didn't pad the stats. I laughed when he took Arod and Jeter out late. I said to my son, they are being punished for not hitting any bombs.

Heh, that's good. My son kept saying after every homer "See, EVERYONE ELSE can hit them. ARod just STINKS."

It's actually pretty cool. Normally I watch most games alone. But my wife's been watching with me lately, and last night my middle son was watching with me. My oldest almost never watches (he's more into football than baseball.) Every time Alex came up last night though, the whole family was sitting in front of the tv, just waiting. It's become an event.

Same here and my son had the same comments as yours. He knows how much I like him and just loves to get under my skin.

We played .690 ball in July. If we could win or even tie our series this month (2x4 game series with Detroit), a .586 clip, I think we will be in great shape going into September because of who we play this month.

You should see my son work my wife's nerves about Jeter.

God Forbid Jeter strikes out. He growls, throws his hands up, then slaps them down on his knees, huffs, then yells "Jeter STINKS!"

    Drives my wife CRAZY.

Well, the whole key right now is to play consistent ball. We need to keep hitting well, albeit not like last night, which was outright ridiculous.

This month is critical though. We need to keep pace with Seattle and Cleveland, and then beat Cleveland and Detriot in the head-to-heads. I'm done even remotely considering a possibility at the division at this point, but the wild card is still a small possibility.

"Before the Rangers pulled the trigger Monday on the blockbuster trade that sent Mark Teixeira to the Atlanta Braves, they offered the first baseman an eight-year, $140-million contract. "I was hoping that he would say yes," Rangers owner Tom Hicks said Tuesday from his home in La Jolla, Calif. But Teixeira's agent, Scott Boras, told the Rangers that his client wasn't interested."

Teixeira?.. Are you kidding me? So, I guess that Makes Boras's asking price for Arod to start at about a billion. Hell, that's too low...a billion and 50% of the team. Teixeira???

He will probably ask 40 million/yr for Gagne too..

Once the game got out of hand, did you let your son know that even if A-rod hit a HR, they would put an asterisk next to 500 since it wasnt done in the clutch?

Don't count on that. Tex was tired of playing in Texas. He'd already had problems in the clubhouse early this year, and that was the main reason the trade talks about him have been going on most of the year.

This sounds more like the Texas PR machine trying to make good with the fans who now have exactly zero reasons to attend Rangers games.

It was a good game last night, I also hate asssholes that wear suit and ties and kick you out of your seat in the 4th inning.

So, Detroit is losing (again). If they don't come back and Cleveland wins they will be tied and that will add another team to those we are chasing. I've been trying to determine if it's better to have another team in the mix or worse. I guess I've come to the conclusion that it's better but don't ask me to explain it.

I'm convinced we are going to win the WC now, or at least should unless you believe the Yankees aren't better then Seattle, Cleveland and Detroit.

Seattle has 8 games with LA, 3 with Boston, 3 with us, 4 with Cleveland and 3 with Detroit

Cleveland has 8 with Detroit, 3 with us, 3 with LA, 4 with Seattle

Detroit has 8 with Cleveland, 8 with us, 2 with Seattle

We have 8 with Detroit, 6 with Boston, 3 with Cleveland, 3 with Seattle

Also, Seattle, Detroit and Cleveland all play the Twins a bunch of times.

Unless we totally collapse I can't see how we lose the WC.

It really does not matter since they are in the same division. 1 of them has to be 1st..

Honestly, it doesn't make a difference. Whether it's one team or 6, it will take the same number of wins to get the wildcard, so it doesn't matter.

The only case where it could work in our favor is if it were only Detroit and Cleveland in front of us, since they could beat up on each other in the same division. Since the Mariners are in the mix, it really negates any benefit at all.

Really we can't worry about what other teams are doing. We need to just win ourselves. If we continue to win, they will eventually lose, and lose the lead.

What's good about a tie for the division is if it stays that way until they go head-to-head. Then one has to beat up on the other, and leave the door open for us to gain games.

Eh. A lot will hinge on those Boston games, unfortunately, Even worse, winning all of them won't even get us the division.

We have to really earn it this year.

Not yet but give Boston time to come back to us. They lost a series to KC last week, could lose one to Baltimore this week, a couple of games to Tampa. You never know. I'm really only thinking about the WC now. Once we get there I'll see if there is any chance of catching Boston.
