Wang's the ace. You know every 5th day you're going to get a good outing, 6-7 innings worth, and the occasional dominating sinker day. I like Hughes, but I still see Wang as the best Yankees pitcher going into 09' Unless of course Santana signs with the Yankees...Hah, kidding.
Shelley Duncan hit 5 Homers in his 1st 22 at-bats. Who was the last American/Major Leaguer to do that? -YES Aflac Trivia Question
If Hughes pitches like he already has up here, then there's no way he's not better than Wang. You're never going to see a no-hitter from Wang. Going into '09, I'm hoping we're viewing Wang as our FOURTH best starter, behind Hughes, Chamberlain, and Santana.
Wang was within an inning and a half from a PERFECT game...I don't think a no-no is out of the question. It's a good problem to have between Hughes and Wang...Both haven't reached their ceiling yet. Hughes only 2 starts, but does have a very high ceiling...I just see Wang as being better. Karstens a double to Podsednik, bad pitch on a 2-strike count.
Boston and Cleveland are winning, Karstens needs to get out of this inning so we can get back out there and start winning this thing.
I think 3rd at worst. Hughes has only pitched 10 innings, too small a sample to project for a season dont you think?
Pods moves the 3rd but Karstens gets 2 outs...An out here would be beautiful since he gave up the lead-off double.
I said I'm hoping he's the fourth best, since that means Hughes, and Chamberlain are Cy Young candidates, along with Santana. --------------- And damnit. Why can't we hold the score?
He has a low90's fastball...A change, slider, and curve... Just needs to relax, has been belted this inning.
Honestly, I assumed we were talking career. If we're talking this year, then we might be in trouble. (Or in incredibly good shape, depending on how things shake out.)
I expect a sub-4.00 ERA from Hughes this year... but nothing out of this world. If he pitches as well as Wang has this year, I'd be thrilled. (Although they're very different kinds of pitchers.)
