Wow, I'm actually impressed Matsui. That's definitely an error, but great baserunning by Matsui, and I'm surprised he ran that hard with his knees.

You missed a great pitching performance. His stuff has been filthy.

Beyond the filth, he has been in command, poised, and throwing hard. His curve hasn't been around the plate all night (most, though), but his fastball has. No one can hit anything off him.

Not that I think Robbie made contact, but how the hell does the 3B ump overrule the plate ump on a foul tip call?

The more significant part of that is that he's been squeezed quite a few times, and you could see it was getting on his nerves. He remained composed and came right back though. That's the type of thing you want to see from a young pitcher.

the home plate ump didn't make the foul ball motion, he made the safe motion... all that it takes for the out call to be made is Cano getting tagged... It seems like it was the announcers speaking out of their asses

Okay, so he's shown off a nice fastball, a nice knurve, and a nice cutter tonight. That's 3 he's shown off tonight.

I absolutely agree about the radar gun. Fortunately for me, I dont live in NY so I had to order a baseball package. I only get YES during home games, usually. FS Detroit's gun seems to be working pretty well. Its showing him between 91-95 on his FB, 86 ish on his 2 change-ups, and his hook is in the low-mid 70's. Quite a good mix of speed.

Gameday's Pitch F/X is damn accurate, too, velocity-wise. They've been having a few issues naming the pitches tonight, though.

Great, great, great call by Girardi! (Well, not really that great, but considering he never makes that call, it makes it look that much more significant.)

Anyway, that's why you sacrifice with the guys who don't hit well.

By the way, that is the proper situation for a sacrifice bunt. Tough time finding hits, late innings of the game, really, really shitty hitter at the plate.

I'm not sure I'm digging the pinch hitting move, though.

    Yes, yes, yes!!!

This is what small ball is all about! You make things happen by playing the game the way it was designed.
