He can hit 94. He has great command and late life on the pitch, which makes it a plus pitch.

Doesn't he realize he is being asked that because Hughes has looked anything but fine? Doesn't he know that if he was 2-0 those questions wouldn't be asked? Doesn't he realize that the pitchers throwing shutouts against the Yankees are pitching in the same cold weather that the Yankee's pitchers are? How do these guys even get jobs?

First of all, Abraham is hardly a bastion of journalistic accuracy. Secondly, Hughes would sit at 92-94. He would hit 95. There is video evidence of this, if you don't believe me.

Secondly, part of what made the fastball a plus fastball is the late life on it. I can't find the link at the moment, but he was rated as having more break/movement on his four-seam fastball than all but two pitchers in the majors or something.

Come on now. Hughes looked lousy in one start. That happens. His velocity is down. That's the ONLY thing that is even remotely cause for worry. The rest - like the inconsistency - is to be expected from time to time. He looked fine in his first start (except the velocity wasn't there).

The fact that the Yanks aren't hitting doesn't change that. The Yanks aren't hitting ANYONE, regardless of the weather.

27 pitches in the first inning for Andy.

At what point are the Yankees going to stop playing A-ball?

Let's see... it's was May 29th last year. It was May 3rd in 2005. I'm guessing somewhere around June 7-14.

    Molina. Better than Posada.

Why is Molina the only consistent player on this team?

1-14 RISP against the Kansas City Royals.

    I want to break something.

I wish I were pitching for the Royals. There's a good chance I'd be able to say I struck out the side vs. the Yankees.

Our "hurlers" are nothing more than batting practice pitchers.

Seriously, I can't understand it. It's like we have zero desire to get the season started before May. Who do you blame? Torre/Girardi? Mattingly/Long? The players? Don? (j/k bro)

    18.3 innings without scoring.

It literally makes vomit come up my throat.

    Melky. Finally.

Molina and Melky are the most solid players on this team right now.

    How absolutely atrocious is this?
