I have/had a chance to buy two good tickets to the Sunday game at Fenway (it's Hughes vs. Dice-K)... my boss has season tix and is offering them at face value. Tomorrow (Friday) is my wife's b-day. She's a Sox fan, and I was going to get us the two tickets as a b-day present for her (ETA: no, it wouldn't be her only gift). Under normal circumstances, this would be awesome (for both of us). Problem: Our son has a cold. (His first.) I'm cool with leaving him with his grandmother for the game, but she's not. This sucks. I really want to see Phil pitch, but it's HER birthday, so obviously I can't twist her arm. I certainly can't go to the game without her, now. Bollocks.
It's not the first time he'll be sick. My son just turned 9 months today, and he's coming off his 4th cold already. If she doesn't want to go, go without her. If she doesn't like it, tough luck for her. This is Yankees/Sox.
Some bad news from Scranton. http://yankees.lhblogs.com/ According to Alan's dad, biceps tendinitis is probably the best case scenario. It might be torn. Let's hope not.
Yankees get double digit hits for the first time all year. Too bad Girardi's gamble on Wednesday didn't work. Would have been nice to have Pettitte starting the first game in Boston. At least we are tied with them and that's all that matters right now. At least they got Giambi out of there. I can see tonight's lineup being around for awhile. No way they sit Molina right now even if Posada's arm returns to normal. Actually, that won't work. I forgot Abreu had the night off. They have one more person hitting than spots in the lineup. (That sounds better than it really is, I know)
Yes, I'm quoting myself. Just thought I'd share this link, in case anyone was interested: http://baseball.bornbybits.com/plots/Phil_Hughes.html A great site. Great info. And look at the movement on the fastball. Compare it to some of the other "plus" fastballs in the game, and you'll see that he's got more movement than most.
