John Sterling is freaking out. "WHAT A BREAK THE RED SOX GOT!" worst...baseball...announcer...on...the...radio
haha, now sterling is saying how clutch Mariano is; that he gave up a few meaningless hits but he comes through in the clutch. this is pure comedy.
I did too, we were getting squeezed all weekend in addition to the horrible calls in the field but we still won 2 of 3 and stay 3 ahead of det.
There was some terrible officiating last night. Interestingly, while I never put much into anything Miller and Morgan say, they were talking last night about the subject of calls in Boston. They were saying there are whispers that there are always strange miscalls in Boston. Now I'm not saying it does or doesn't happen happen more than in other parks, for other teams, but I do notice it a lot more in Boston than in other parks. ------------------------ That 9th inning was pretty tense. Mo was the victim of some poor ball/strike calls, but he put it together in the end. Honestly, it was very appropriate IMO for him to get Papi to fly out. Jeter's fist pump had me cracking up. Speaking of Jeter, are people done talking shit about him now? I mean, damn, people have been ripping him for weeks around here like somehow now he isn't part of the heart of this team anymore. I would have thought people would have learned their lesson with ARod last year.
We are back to needing to win series. We have 4 left. If we win them there is no way Detroit will catch us. If we don't then who knows with the way they are playing. At least they have Cleveland coming up and Chicago to end the season who seems to play them tough.
Mo clearly didn't have his best stuff last night... but thats what makes him the best closer ever... cuz he got out of that inning with his head and heart... something very few closers can do without their best stuff
Eh, regardless of his stuff not being perfect, it was good. He didn't get quite a few calls that should have been strikes, but that's the game, full of human error. His guts are definitely what got him through though. That, and the multiple prayers I said when Ortiz came to the plate. God was listening last night. Thanks God!
Preferably with a kick in the teeth. And forget clutch. He's just flat out a great baseball player. Not the best, but very good. Very. Now who starts the next thread? dwalsh, or wildthing?
