So I assume it'll be Soriano then Mo to finish this off. Get it fucking done boys, because we know Gm 3 will be a loss.

It's alright, pumping his fist 200 times after Logan struck out McDonald was good enough.

BTW, how about Ortiz walking to 3rd base last inning? Cost Boston a run for sure. I can only imagine the firestorm if A-Rod had done that.

I dunno about that. He's a slow piece of trash, so why exert yourself knowing you're not getting waved home? He wasn't gonna be waved home there even if he was "motoring" along. That's what I gathered from the replay, anyway.

Logan did a hell of a job tonight, and has quietly been very solid this season. I was one of his biggest critics last year, he's definitely shown his worth in 2011.

If he runs it out, he'll at least force a throw. Plus, if Granderson bobbled the ball whatsoever then Ortiz could've scored easily had he been running.

    1 out away...

Girardi's going apeshit, and rightfully so. No question that Saltalamacchia swung on that hit by pitch, that was a bullshit call.

If that costs the Yankees I think Girardi might come back onto the field and choke Rapuano out.

EDIT: Nevermind. Ballgame over, Yankees win.

True, I'll buy that. But we don't call him Big Poopie for nothin'.

Good win, necessary win. Fuck Boston.

atta way boys, rip their throats out tomorrow and let's get rolling. Great job by Chavez tonight, 2 hits, 2 rbi's, and Girardi takes him out in the 8th with first and 3rd 1 out. I'll never undersyand Girardi's over micro managing, use your gut once in a while will ya please Joe? Fuckin' maddening sometimes.
Nice to see them hang on, how many men did the sox leave on base 50? holy shit every inning was an on the edge of your seat show. Big win, good win, and the usual nervous win in that whacky ass ballpark where no lead is safe.

I thought that was a good move to pinch hit for Chavez. By bringing in the righty he got Morales (a very good lefty) out of the game in favor of Albers (a very bad righty.)

Even though the Yankees didn't score, the fact that Albers drilled Posada to load the bases and barely retired Cervelli tells me that it was a good decision to force him into the game.

i'd have to say that was one hell of a ballsy ass call to throw a high outside fastball with a 3-2 count with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th and the red sox batter bit on the pitch and whiffed to end the inning. that was ball four and a free run by a mile.
I'd say Mo's first strikeout was a gift from the ump too, those called strikes were pretty far outside if you asl me. i'll take it, don't get me wrong, but it was a gift. thank you.

It worked out , and that is what matters, i have to admit i was livid though, i wanted that sac fly badly, just in case the sox loaded the bases in that park where anything can happen. 5-2 in Fenway is almost a tie game after watching baseball for as long as i have.

actually was only 4 hours tonight.

What about Wednesday and Tuesday nights?

Yeah, I was stunned. Haven't they figured Lackey out yet? He's one of the last guys I'd be keeping out there with that many pitches.

wouldn't say that's irony. Just baseball.

    I agree.

McDonald swung at ball 4. Yanks got lucky there, you don't want to face Elsbury with bases loaded only up 2.

CC took exception to Lackey throwing at Cervelli. Though, Cervelli is passionate, I still think the clap at home was silly.

CC should've been allowed to come back out the inning after Cervelli was hit to throw a single pitch. I get why Girardi didn't in a game that close, but I want retaliation.

No self-respecting Yankees fan is giving Cervelli shit for what he did. After years of Manny and Ortiz posing for pictures, signing the ball, and doing an interview before jogging out their homers, the Red Sux can F themselves. Plus, hasn't Jeter been hit enough to make up for anything the rest of the team does?

I hope AGonz gets plugged this series. Sad, because I actually like the guy, but it's time the Yankees stopped being pussies about getting thrown at.

Oh, and yeah, I watched. I couldn't help myself.

I'm with you on this one, i'm sick of the red sox making careers out of plunking yankees. Pedro used to nail Soriano and jeter all the time. That's what i loved about joba when he first came up, he had alot of fire, and i'm not condoning throwing at someone's head,(youkilis) but he at least was protecting his team.

Yeah, I don't advocate throwing at heads, but I do think we need to defend ourselves. The umps had better not get in the way of that by making a warning before the Yankees have a chance at revenge.

It's always genuinely good when you win.

I'm with you though. I'm not a fan of investing 4+ hrs in a game for them to blow a lead late.

I feel like this happend with Boston a lot this season.

I think part of the issue (from the Sox point of view) is that it's a young, backup catcher doing the "showing up," and not one of the best right-handed hitters of all-time (Manny).

Although I'd tell Lackey that the best way to not get shown up is to not let a backup catcher with two career homers take you deep like a chump.

The only thing that would've made that game more enjoyable is - ironically - if the Yanks won 5-4, so that the run Cervelli scored after getting plunked would've been more meaningful.

I didn't watch the game, though... I just listened to it in the background while I was reading.
