Torre must go. I'm sick of his Style of managing. He's Textbook. You already know how I feel about his managing of Mariano but he's never done anything to really make me feel that any other Manger could have won 4 Championships here. I could be wrong here but that's JMO Now Early on, He seemed more active. On the Bases, Playing small ball etc. But now, It takes the 15th Blown call of the season vs the Yanks for him to get off his ass and show a pulse.
The Yankees got screwed by two plays yesterday. As much as I can't stand Moose, I can't put it on his shoulders. The Abreu play was bad. His sheer terror of walls was a big blow yesterday. Then, when Mienky went down, the air was taken clear out of our sails. Joe said it best in the postgame yesterday, when you give extra outs to a team, you're in trouble. When you give extra outs to the Red Sox, it's suicide. ----------------- Oh, and I love that Lowell gets defended. If that same exact play had ARod doing the plowing of Cano, it would be all over how ARod plays dirty. It's a joke. Speaking of Lowell, I didn't see the play with Doug. Everyone on the radio said it wasn't dirty, but how the hell does someone's leg hit a first baseman's head? And does anyone know if Mienky is alright?
Grimsley also said after that came out that he never mentioned Clemens or pettitte though I would believe Clemens just not pettitte. As far as current steroid users, look no further than your rehabbing ace. A guy who has been around 160 lbs his entire career, a guy who just 2 years ago was working out in the pic below(he's the one on the right) while now he is supposedly near 200 lbs. This was in response top Joe brining up Grimsely but he has edited his post and removed it.
Unquestionably an accident. Mienky was turning around almost on his knees chasing Jeter's errant throw and put his head right in the path of Lowell's body. Slight concussion, cervical (neck?) bruise, broken bone in wrist.
Wonderboy made a terrible throw where Mientkiewicz had to be practically on one knee and leaning over the base path to make the catch. If Lowell avoids hitting Mientkiewicz, he doesn't touch the base.
I'm going out on a limb and predicting we at least win the wild card. We'll be in first place in that race by August 1st. I have faith in this team. Yesterday was a Yankees win. The two plays I've already mentioned, if taken out of the equation, let us win yesterday's game. This team is going to come roaring back. People also need to keep in mind, we've had a ridiculously tough schedule over the past month. We've played almost all playoff caliber teams for the past few weeks. The weaker teams are going to start popping up soon, and we can trounce them, while the AL Central beats the snot out of each other.
Wonderboy did an amazingjob to even make a throw after the awful throw by Cano. The 2nd error was Jeter's fault, the 1st one was Cano's.
Okay, thanks for the explanation guys. Like I said, it was being made pretty clear by the radio people that it wasn't dirty at all. I just couldn't, for the life of me, figure out how his head could be that close to Lowell's leg.
No matter how you spin it, Jeter had yet another terrible day in the field yesterday and nearly got Mientkiewicz killed.
Yes, it was his fault. He made an absolutely terrible throw. Cano's throw wasn't as bad as you're making it out to be. Jeter could have made a clean throw, but he didn't.
I just watched the Mienky play. Damn. I'm glad it wasn't worse than it was. Cano's throw, combined with the slide out of the baseline caused Derek to throw it the way he did. ------------- Then I watched the Lowell slam on Cano. Come the hell on. If you're defending that, and villifying what ARod did to Pedroia, you're just hating. Even the fan reaction in the stadium showed they knew exactly how ugly that was. The only difference is, Cano still made the play.
I didn't see either. Are the videos on Yankees site? Edit: I just saw Lowell on Cano. Yankees are a bunch of pussies for not throwing at him after that. Way to defend your second basemen. What did Arod do to Pedroia?
Thank you. At least someone who isn't a Yankees fan is being critical of Lowell in that situation. As for ARod on Pedroia, it wasn't during yesterday's game. It was during the last series between the teams. ARod was on first, and it was a double play ball. ARod overslid second, and came up with an elbow into Pedroia's gut. To be fair, I think both ARod AND Lowell were fine doing what they did. Lowell was legally trying to break up the DP. But so was ARod. My only issue is that people want to villify ARod, and pretend Lowell's move was fine in comparison. As I said the other day, if ARod wasn't wearing pinstripes, no one would give him shit like "Bush League" the way they do.
