Joba looking great lately. Unfortunately, after a couple more games, he'll be sent to the pen and all that "leave him in the pen" crap will start all over again.

I really wish they'd start stretching Hughes out so they can swap them.

WTF with Bruney? This was my guy coming into the year. Honestly, he doesn't seem like the same pitcher since losing all that weight.

Anybody else think the NYY use Mo too much? They could have went to someone else for two outs tonight.

I definitely think he's overused, but then again, I've been saying that for the past 10 years, and I've yet to see him not have enough left in the tank come the Fall. He's just that good.

I would like to see other guys step up though. It would have been a good night to get Melancon into another game.

Mo is the man. He is overused, but I wish he was used more. If that makes sense.

This is becoming a trend. Bruney brought in during garbage time, gets lit up, Mo has to bail him out.

If you look at his player card, he seems to only pitch well during even years.

Three best seasons in '04, '06, and '08. Three worst seasons in '05, '07, and '09.

He's a Chad Pennington clone. Durability and everything. Hopefully he doesn't wind up with a div rival some day and fuck us up.

    Yes and no.

Mo's right on pace with recent years (he'll wind up with around 70 innings), but he's also getting older. I was more concerned earlier in the year when he wasn't so far removed from his surgery.

In this case, he hadn't pitched in a few days, so I don't think it was a big deal. They were going to need to use him soon, anyway. And it's not like he was overworked tonight.

If Mo is being used, see that as a good thing. I hope we use him more often, but its nothing to complain about if we win my 10 runs every time and we see him once in a blue moon.

It's only a concern to me because I've seen a guy named Joe burn out our bullpen multiple times in the past. I obviously have no problem with Mo being out there.

Joba looked great. The Yankees are tied with the Dodgers for the best record in baseball. Bruney needs a ticket out of town, maybe they can use him in a Washburn deal. Alio is right, Hughes needs to get stretched out..especially if they aren't going to use him when they should, like last night.

I just read that the Jays are now asking for Chamberlain OR Hughes (not AND) plus prospects. I wonder if that's why he was held out last night. They may still be thinking about it. Might have to do George being in the house too. They say he is feeling so good he plans to be in NY for the Sox series next weekend.

The way this team is playing right now,i'd rather not trade for anyone and leave well enough alone.

I would too as long as Halladay doesn't end up in Boston. That would make them almost unbeatable in a 5 game series. Even a 7 game would be tough if they stayed with a 3 man rotation.

I really don't want to trade Hughes OR Chamberlain anymore. Yes, Halladay is awesome (though less-so since coming off the DL) but Phil and Joba are clearly capable of being stars at the MLB level.

A rotation of Sabathia, Burnett, Hughes, Chamberlain and someone to be named later is SICK. Imagine if Kennedy pans out? Halladay definitely pays immediate (depending how much he's still suffering lingering effects of his injury) dividends, but Hughes and Chamberlain provide long-term benefits.

I agree that it's important to keep Halladay out of Boston, but after seeing Joba perform again last night, it's clear that he's going to be consistent in the rotation. Stick with plan Cashman.

I don't disagree. I just can't help but wonder why they held back a well rested Hughes last night to let Mo pitch in a non-save situation. I can only think of two possible reasons. He is either hurt or they are thinking they might use him in a trade. It will be really interesting if they don't use him again tonight if it is a close game.

Why would they not use him if he was about to be traded? That makes no sense. You pull players from a game if the trade is going to happen in the next hour or so. Not the next day or two.

A more likely reason is that Mo hadn't pitched since Sunday, either, and Girardi wasn't messing around.

This isn't to say he can't or won't be traded, but not using him last night has nothing to do with it.

Dodgers loss and Yankees win ties each for the best record in baseball.
