The rain has stopped according to 880 and the scheduled first pitch is 8:40. Hopefully their isn't any more rain and we can sweep for the day.
So, it's May. Is the prince ready to announce a decision yet? Should we be camped out on his driveway?
Isn't the date something like the 15th? Screw it, if he comes, he comes. I don't care right now either way. I want our regular pitchers healthy. We're fine if we get them all in the rotation at the same time.
Yeah, but that won't happen anytime soon and it looks like Pavano will be gone for good this time if he opts for Tommy John surgery. Hughes is probablt gone 2 months and Igawa?..who knows, he may be good and he may be terrible. We need another starter, I think.
And another note, has Matsuzaka pitched even an average game since his first start of the season? Another mess last night. 7 ERs in 5 innings. Everything I expected of him. Just another Japanese pitcher who should have stayed home. I didn't expect he would get this bad until the all star break. By then he may be pitching batting practice at this rate.
Captain Clutch comes through tonight. A nice 0-6 and grounds out with the bases loaded to end the game..
Blaming anyone on the offensive side of the ball for tonight is ridiculous. Jeter hit in 21 straight games. He's not immortal. We scored a ton of runs tonight, and we still lost. Our pitching is beyond terrible. We're not going to win games until our starters actually pitch in the 7th without popping a hammy. We're bad right now, but it's got nothing to do with the hitting.
If I were a Mets fan right now, I'd be very pleased with my shortstop. Jeter is great, regardless of what other teams' fans might think/say, but Reyes is a Hall of Famer in the making.
Reyes is great no doubt about it but he still has a long way to go to make the Hall while Jeter is a lock.
"Igawa is Cashman's baby, no getting around that. The general manager shelled out $46 million over five years for a starter who has imploded now three times in six appearances and has yet to last more than six-plus innings in any game. The equation is simple. The worse Igawa looks, the worse Cashman looks." http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...5_igawa_gets_hit_cashman_should_take_one.html
I did say he was a future Hall of Famer "in the making." I didn't stamp his ticket to Cooperstown yet. The kid has talent oozing from his pores. No matter what level of cross-town animosity exists, to deny he looks like a superstar is just wrong. Yes, Jeter is a surefire HoFer, but Reyes does deserve a decent amount of credit already in his career. He's a phenom, and Mets fans have every right to be excited about him.
