Molina has been KILLING us at the plate. I know he's better than Jorge defensively and at calling games..but it's starting to get ridiculous.
you cant bat giambi until theres someone on base...if he leads off you waste his homerun should he hit one...which is the sole purpose of using him to begin with. It doesnt matter if you "give away an out". you have to look at big picture- girardis job and the teams job is to get giambi up with a chance to tie the game...thats your shot- they accomplished that...the ninth inning was managed correctly.IMHO of course...but im right
That's the 2nd time a rainout has killed us, the first w/ the Mets when they rescheduled the DH and now the Pirate game where we were leading 2 or 3-0 when the rain ended it. I hope those 2 games do not cost us down the road. The Pitt one shouldn't have cost us, we still should have been able to beat them last night. Another awful job by the bats.
You're mostly right. However, when you aren't scoring, you need baserunners, and Giambi gets on base. And thinking about it now, where the **** was Gardner in that situation? Every single non-pitcher on the team is better qualified in that situation than Molina. I agree that Giambi should be there to tie the game, but if he never has the chance, what's the difference? It's a lot like when Jeter was the man on-deck to PH a couple weeks ago. That's exactly what I was talking about yesterday. This team refuses to dominate teams it should beat handily. That is not the trademark of a playoff team.
but giambi did get the chance swee pea...christian walked remember? either way, another pathetic showing by our supposed great offense
There's a huge difference fancy-pants. If Giambi leads off in the ninth, instead of Molina, the pitcher doesn't have to throw him anything to swing at. Chances are better Giambi walks, given his great eye at the plate. Christian comes up, and gets that walk. Runners on first and second, nobody out. Roberts comes up to hit. No need for a pinch hitter here. He sacrifice bunts, second and third, one out, Derek Jeter at the plate with Bobby Abreu on deck. See the difference? You take your risks as early as possible, or you run the risk of "too little, too late". And yes, this offense is pathetic. Thirty-one games this year the Yankees have scored less than 3 runs. These guys should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. We haven't had pitching this good in years, and this abortion of a lineup can't score.
fancy pants, haha. dude, if giambi leads off the pitcher doesnt have to be afraid of him because he cant tie the game......so he can go right after him...giambi wouldnt walk in that situation...the pitcher can throw him 3 fastballs right down the middle...hes not gonna pussy foot around and risk walking giambi to bring the tying run to the plate
Oh, you like that sweet-tits? You throw Giambi 3 fastballs and it's a one-run game. Same situation, just one less man on base when Roberts bunts.
I Must Respond. I am not a pedofile. Nor a pedophile. Really, who listens to joejet, anyway? While I reserve the right to place your self esteem in grave danger, I would never think of harming your children. Carry on.
