Chago had a great game going, but he couldn't close the deal. He's all about "almost" but not quite good enough, which unfortunately is much better than Joba right now
Aceves in line for his 11th win after the long layoff. Big K of Hunter there. The Figgins homer was the second time this game that Kay and co. praised a guy's defensive abilities after a bad play. They were praising Swisher after he ran to the wrong spot, a la Hunter last week.
I remember when Guerrero was fast. Man, is he ever broken down. He runs like Shelley Duncan. If Coke was available, you have to think he would've been the one to face Abreu with the bases loaded. I was surprised to see Bruney warming up. This is kind of an important game. Bad call on the 2-0 pitch to Abreu, but he ended up walking anyway. Anyway, 6th inning ended at 5-4. Vlad hit a hot shot down the line. A-Roid made a diving play and got up and threw to first. The Vlad of a few years ago beats that out or gets narrowly thrown out. Tonight, he was out by three steps or so. Not a close play, and that's pathetic. I would've made that a close play, and I'm not a sprinter.
The Yankees just officially clinched a playoff spot, as Texas was blown out by the A's once again. Amazing what Oakland has done to Texas recently.
three balls well struck off Palmer, but a 1-2-3 inning. Man, he's fat. He and Abreu are not even close to being in shape.
Looks like Morales not getting to third cost the Angels a run. I know he's not fast, but you have to get to third base on a ball where the outfielder dives and misses. Swisher did not get to the ball in time. Any in shape major leaguer should be able to get to third if he's running hard out of the box.
I also question the wisdom of bringing in Marte just to turn Morales around and then yanking him. One batter, and not even a lefty at that? If Coke was available, that'd be one thing. I guess Girardi was counting on using Hughes and Rivera to finish the game after that batter, so he figured he wouldn't need Marte after that.
Unreal, let's just give it away! + this fukin ump has a Strikezone as big as an Escorts Twat and now all of a sudden it's shrunk to just the middle of the plate.. fuk that.
Hughes realized he can't trust his defense, and so just decided to strike everyone out. Good call, Phil.
