Arod should not be the highest paid player on ANY team. He is useless in the post season. Joe Torre was way ahead of everybody when he batted Arod eighth in a crucial post season game.
How is it possible he gets up 147 times in the post season, has 17 rbis, and 38 strikeouts? In the American League parks, they should let the pitcher hit, and have a DH for Arod.
Why is it trash? Somebody else mentioned I was a Met fan not me, I am simply stating an opinion. Is that illegal in this forum? Oh wait it's trash because your a Yankee fan.
Maybe because nobody else ever gets on base. He also has 41 hits, 7 HRs, 17 walks and scored 21 runs but as expected you forgot those stats. Add in an obp of .361 and slg of .463 and it's tough to have only 17 rbis with those numbers if anybody else is doing their job too. Jeter, on the other hand who everybody likes to think walks on water has a whopping 49 rbis in 495 ABs along with 51 walks, an obp of .377 and slg of .469. So please tell me where the big difference is. I don't see it and that's because it's not there.
LOL So it's basically Yankees keep Arod so now they're the favorites vs. him not opting out and being WC contenders, can someone explain this?
its a done deal guys arod is a yankee, arod said it himself and admits he was wrong, he said he wants to be a yankee do you want me, and then the offer came.
He's our best player, he's supposed to be up front not waiting for others to come thruogh. if he plays anywhere near his capabiltiies we win each of the 4 series we lost w/ him. Ortiz doesn't wait for Dustin pedroia to come through so why does ARod have to wait for others to come through? Those 2 stunk but 1 RBI(a meaningless one down big in Game 4 no less) from ARod is unacceptable. jeter still had an RBI which equals what ARod has done in his last 16 postseason games. ARod got his deal, he did the right things to come back but now he needs to do it hen it matters. Jordan carried teams on his back, he was Mr. clutch- the anti ARod. manning has been alot like ARod and has held teams back from winning w/ his non-clutch play in January. How does Ty Law enter this discussion? Then he had those 4 bad series people love to rant about but that's 4 of 5! he's had 1 good series for us in 5! and he hasn't been just mediocre or bad he's been embarrassingly bad, he's been our WORST player and oh by the way the pre-Yankees postseason #s include only 2 or 3 hits w/ RISP. If it was just 5 games he would get a pass but unfortunately he hasn't hit in 16 games spread over 4 seasons whee he has just ONE RBI. Are you serious? Since game 5 of the '04 ALCS he's 0 for 9 w/ RISP and yuo can drive in runs w/o guys being in scorig position or on base he left a million runners on base an only manufatured a run w/ his late HR in game 4 against Cle. Stop making excuses for this guy. matsuzaka in 1 postseason AB has more RBI than ARod in his last 1 postseason games.
You can't possibly, for one second, believe he could have made up for Wang's 19.08 era in those 2 games combined this year, can you? If you do then you believe he could have hit 9 HRs in each of those games while coming to bat 4 times. If we win even one of those games and Chamberlain doesn't have to eat a half pound of bugs between each pitch we win that series.
Absolutely, it would be nice to get some early runs and allow our SPs to relax a bit instead of having so much pressure trying to be perfect b/c thye know an offense led by ARod isn't going to score. Alex wasn't the main culprit in the Cleve series but no player has been more responsible for our annual October failures than ARod. throw ortiz in ARod's place and we win at least 3 of the 4 series we lost.
What makes you think Ortiz would hit at all as a Yankee? You have really hit a new low with your comments by blaming Arod for our miserable pitching. I'm sure you also think he did a voodoo dance to summon the midges as well.
Ridiculous statements backed by facts. I don't know maybe the fact he has a million clutch hits(that's a million more than ARod if you are keeping score). Do I blame ARod for the poor pitching? no, I blame him for doing nothing and being an embarrassment at the plate(and at times in the field and on the basepaths) in postseason and I blame him for not getting this offense going which would help the pitching. Outside of beckett Boston did not have great SP, their offense gave them big leads and allowed them to relax and win games. We don't have a Beckett but it would be nice to see our O put up some runs and when you are supposedly the best player in the game(the best player of all time too, right?) you need to act like it when it matters.
Outside of Beckett? Another completely ridiculous comment. If Beckett had been pitching for us we win the WS, not Boston. He won every game he started in the playoffs. Pitching wins in the playoffs, not hitting. Haven't you learned that yet? It did for us in 96-2000 and for every team since. It will for us again when we get a decent pitching staff too.
