we are weak at wr, i mean coles is only gonna get worse he is 29,30 unfortunately we didnt have draft picks to go after a wr. We will def draft one next year though
we just keep sitting around while the Pats just keep picking up great players. to answer your question we need help BAD at WR
i think we should pick keyshawn up for the season or two, he knows he wont get much more then 1-1.5 mil. so i dont see the harm and plus then we have a big man in the endzone and a solid #3 and then if we do that we could afford to cut j mac and we would have a man to teach brad smith the ways of being a great wr. All around seems like a great move for us and he seems to have lost his big mouth over the years. I just dont see the downside.
Keyshawn could be the answer, but we drafted Stuckey, he might pan out if we are lucky, besides the point we have an up and coming star in Cotchery. Coles is an iron-man and probably has at least two productive years left. The only problem might be third WR, but then again if Brad Smith works out...
LMAO there goes the excuses for Coles. Don't you think Rice,Moss,Owens etc get doubled teamed? That what make a good WR great he can still get open even if he gets doubled teamed.
Totally agree, Long&Winding. Thanks for providing the evidence. I don't understand why Coles gets a reputation as less than an excellent receiver. He's been extremely productive throughout his carrer and last year was no exception. Another important point I think worth mentioning: We had 6th best 1-2 punch last year with absolutely NO running game. With no need to put 8 in the box to stop our run, defenses could back off the line, and yet Cotch/Coles still produced big. Think how much better next year will be with a legitimate running back in TJ...
That was my point. I was agreeing with you. The 12 YPC stat tells you he isn't changing the game very often.....
yea, we drafted Stuckey, so I guess that means we are all set at WR... we seriously need a WR before TC....Keyshawn is the best option i think we are going to get
Not that I was onboard for Jackson, but what exactly is wrong with... 956 yards in 13 games and 10 TDs last season? 15.2 YPC He's had three 1000 yard seasons in his career... Yes he's injury prone, and I would take him over McCareins, but he's a good receiver.
Do you guys even watch football? You just stated, EXACTLY BACKWARDS the problem we have. We only SEE 8 and 9 in the box, precisely BECAUSE no teams respect our Wideouts deep. (We had Zero speed on the perimeter, at all, before Leon got here.) Bothe Thomas Jones and Leon will help that a bit, as soon as one or two teams give up the huge run because the safety was sitting too close to the LoS and got penned in. And Chads arm has nothing to do with it, even you could chuck it up there if you had someone to "just go and get it".... Look, both Coles and Cothcery are GOOD receivers. Neither is a Great, or even far above average receiver. They would both be better teamed up with someone that had actually deep speed. The first Miami game last season is illustrative of exactly where Coles is in terms of receivers. When the Safety kept biting inside, Coles was able to go outside, and score on two deep balls. But He is not fast enough to get outside Deep, unless the safety makes a tragic error. And because Cotchery lacks footspeed, he gets a corner with a small cushion, Coles gets doubled over the top, and what you have are 2 12YPC receivers.
also if we sign keshawn and cut jmac then we have nobody on the team to stretch the field. jmac might not catch em, but he's still the fastest receiver on the team. but i agree we need more depth at the position, but i'd adress our o line before our wide receivers.
I could care less about stretching the field, JMac is worthless and NOT WORTH his salary. Surely you'd take Keyshawn over him right? Is it even a debate?
Eh... I dont really think its a huge need. We got Chansi as a understudy/benchwarmer and he'll prob learn from Coles. I worry about Coles durability but he's a leader to this team. Maybe in a year or two we'll go WR in RD1... maybe...
yes i would, and no jmac is not worth the 3 mil but the problem with herm's offense was that we were one dimensional, and we could be again. if jmac takes a pay cut and keshawn wants more then market value for a #3 wide out, then no i wouldnt want him back. and i'm only making a case for jmac IF he takes a pay cut, which i'm assuming he would have to in order to stay a jet. and my overall point was that our o line is thinner then our recievers.
