Maybe if it's Week 17 and you have a definitive scenario for the following week, like the year we ended at Oakland and knew we had to go right back, but that's not the case here. There will be another regular season week after this game with countless variables, and then the first round where anything could happen. I just don't see it. I kind of think you're kidding, going by the Oakland and Tampa comment, though. Just a hunch.
There is absolutely no way that the Colts rest players against Jacksonville this week. That would give Peyton and Co. a four week resting period! They will be so out-of-sink it would be absurd. Imagine Peyton missing the first four weeks of the season, then coming back for week 5, he would be out of rhythm, just like Brady was when he came back in week 2 against the Jets. It will not happen. This week the Colts will play their starters and hopefully, in week 16 (if we beat Atlanta and the game means something), they will rest Peyton and Co after the first quarter or after half time.
Remember the year Manning didn't play much in the pre-season, or at all, and then struggled the first 4-5 weeks of the regular season. Last year, maybe? You don't have that luxury in the playoffs of having a few weeks to get back on your game.
Post of the century. I always think it's funny when fans call other fans out for looking ahead, as if our preparation and frame of mind has any impact on what happens on Sunday.
I'll be part of the crowd Sunday but if I'm distracted it won't be by the Colts. It will either be by pouring rain, why I drank so much at 10 am, or both.
who gives a fuck if they are trying for it or not, we have to beat them, plain and simple. even if they are trying for it, put Manning on the ground a couple of times and start pounding the receives, and you can guarantee those guys will be on the sideline faster than you can say 15-1.
Well, if they are not trying, the Jets have a much, much higher chance of winning the game. So I, for one, give a fuck. lol at the notion that the Jets would have majority agency in a game against Peyton fucking Manning.
Hey you never know. We almost beat them in their Super Bowl year, that's why they play the games. I'll give Ryan a chance to stop him.
well healthy colts are playing thursday against Jax http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4741550
Of course they have a chance. But it's certainly not even close to the chance they'd have against backups.
I don't think it is to far fetched. They have a chance (given we beat ATL) to better our odds of knocking out another team that could give them fits in the playoffs. Just by laying down for us, they would put the pressure on a team like JAX or BAL to make the playoffs. If they are not in the playoffs, they can't get a chance to face them in the playoffs. If they think we would give them a tough game, they could do everything in their power to make sure we don't get a chance to see them in the second round of the playoffs. It kinda makes sense to me.
Why do you think we would barely stand a chance at beating their starters? Our team does match up very well against their team, it would be a very good game and I would rather their starters play in this game. If we cant beat them now, we shouldn't be in the playoffs anyway.
Or...it's a beat down just because that's what the Colts do. That's why they are the elite franchise in the NFL.
I hope not. I really wanted to see what the Jets fans thought about their chances of making the playoffs...but then I hear, yet again, homer fans thinking they are just the team to be the Colts. Every week, same optimism, same results.
The Titans thought they were bad ass last year too. Until the Jets came into town. The Jets have been in every game this year. The ponies have yet to see a defense like they will see in two weeks. Wow you remind me of a pats fan. Inflated ego and as arrogant as they come. You sit here calling us homers when you are the leader of the homer squad. Besides the colts will do the same thing they always do. Good in the regular season choke in the playoffs.
