You guys have to be kidding. Vilma has been exposed. Coming off surgery, the Jets will be "lucky" to get a third rounder for him.

With Bruschi getting up there in age, I bet we could trade him to NE for Brady and San Fran's 1st round pick. Vilma is the most sought after player in the league afterall, or at least you'd think so reading this board.

As long as Tannenbaum doesn't draft another o-lineman in the first round, especially top 5, I'm fine. If he drafts one, fire him on the spot.

Am I the only one who feels it is not necessary at all for the Jets to draft McFadden, and would be upset if they do?

If I were Tangini he would have been the first to go. He is a round peg in the square hole defense. Playing him out of position hurts the team and himself.

This team is in desperate need of a gamebreaker on offense. Frankly if you exclude Namath, the Jets have NEVER had a gamebreaker. Someone who could take it the distance at any time, at any point on the field. Just imagine what kind of pressure that would put on the defense. It would open up a whole lot more for us. You can get OL and DL in FA or in mid rounds in the draft. If we have a chance to get McFadden it would be tremendously silly not to.

I see your point, but then what happens to Thomas Jones, and even Leon?

You can't just use Leon on Kick Returns only. He's capable of running the ball also. Not as a full time back, but still capable.

Throw in Assante too, and you got a deal.

i was all for drafting him, but now I'd rather see us go in another direction and find a way to trade down, and take someone like Gholston or Groves.

having said that, if we stay put and McFadden falls to us at something like #3 or #4, I certainly won't complain. Peterson has won the Vikes games, LT the Chargers, Gore the 49ers, etc. any time you can get a player who wins you games, you go ahead and do it without second-guessing.

you use Leon just as the Pats use Kevin Faulk, except Leon is alsoa stellar returner.

Jones has about 2 years left before you really see him start to decline. this allows McFadden to ease into the NFL and adjust at a nice pace, and when Jones "suddenly" slows down (i.e. gets injured, loses a step), McFadden is ready.

of course, if we don't sign two OL in FA and draft one relatively early, it won't really matter anyway.

Why couldn't you just use Leon as a KR only guy? He's proven to be very good at it. There have been plenty of guys that were only KR guys and have been very good at it. Brian Mitchell, Leon Johnson, Dave Meggett. He would still have a roster spot. Plus, that may enable us to get Justin Miller more time at Corner so he can really learn the position which will allow us to dump some of the dead weight we currently have there (not Hank Poteat)

Who would take vilma who has a problem with his knee and if they would we would not get much for him. Also if you accept the proposition that Harris is know our best LB why would we trade our second best LB?

The best trade we could possibly make with Vilma is to somehow get Suggs from the Raven. If the Jets somehow managed to swindle that kind of a deal, the Jets would have added a young, but NFL experienced linebacker that is a beast as a pass rusher and a proven commodity as an OLB in a 3-4. He is the same age as Vilma and would be much more effective in this defense.

honestly we won't get the value we would want to get for Vilma because he is coming off a season ending injury. Therefore we should keep him, play him in the middle WITH Harris, and then we work on getting a big 3-4 NT in front and then Vilma and Harris will be a lethal combo in the middle.
