Jets no matter what happens. I made that bed long ago and I will continue to rest in it. One day this team will rise from the ashes in rebirth like the Phoenix and I for one will be waiting. J!-E!-T!-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!!!!!!!
This. The Lawrence/Wilson and Meyer/Saleh questions are completely different ones. It's way too early to tell which of the rookie QBs will succeed or fail - both Lawrence and Wilson have ranged from very bad to very good so far this year. It's also too early to tell how Saleh will be as a coach, although I've liked what I've seen so far in terms of his character, his nature, his professionalism, and so on. On the other hand, I can't believe anyone thought that hiring Meyer would work out. It was clear to me that Jacksonville only hired him because of desperation and the University of Florida connection. Not only don't I think they're surprised he's flaming out, I think they expected it (although they probably hoped for it to happen after a couple years and in less embarrassing fashion).
I mean it's less about that and more about the fact that he didn't fly back with the team after a tough loss, he's married and a notoriously religious man, and he canceled Monday's team meetings and such to deal with his own personal fall out. I don't think people are particular offended that he's was being kind of a dirtbag. They're more up in arms that it's all about Urban Meyer and not winning football games. They also forgot to mention he was out at a golf tournament doing TV interviews hanging out on the first day of free agency legal tampering. He also had the issue with saying yeah we might cut players if they're not vaccinated (don't care if you think it's right or not, you don't say that when dealing with a union) and also whining about free agency and how he can't have intimate sit downs with players and what not before signing them.
Unfortunately for him, his boss doesn't seem to agree with you. That's never good for your job security.
Offended? No. A BRAND NEW NFL head coach with a young team letting his team FLY back to Jacksonville to DO THAT? Yup. That's a problem. Poor leadership. Bad optics. No one said "offended". This isn't kindergarten. This is a multi, multi billion dollar industry. He is the CEO.
Strange that sounds like offended to me, I couldn't give a shit tbh chances are he looks a little set up tbh. If he stopped back to see 'family' he must have had permission as such. A multi mulit million dollar industry didn't stop Kraft getting a little hand relief and how did that turn out for him? Swept under the rug I'd say.
bingo. it's not about the floozy. it's the fact he abandoned his team after a tough loss to go party. He is supposed to be the leader and set the example. saleh is out running laps with the team and before games and the players love him. urban is out partying and leaving the team behind. he's 0-4 he should be living at the facility trying to fix it.
When I was younger you would see the soccer players in the nightclub after a home game, win lose or draw, they lost, what is he meant to do go back to the office for 24 hours with out sleep or 48 maybe. I get the point but I am not arsed about it in the slightest. This same site will give you a 10 page argument on players being able to get stoned.
The thing that fucks me up is not the lady and him having some flirtatious activities but the fact that he stayed in Ohio after the loss to the bengals. What type of coach seperates himself from his team especially after a series of losses? I think that shows his character more than anything. He's unfit to be an nfl coach with that attitude.
thats the players not the coaches. the players can unwind. they need the rest after a game. plus soccer is soccer. football is the sport where coaching makes more of a difference then any other sport. The coach is supposed to set the example for the players. and be a leader. teams have a bunch of young millionaires playing for them. coaches are the older wiser people who are supposed to lead them. If I was a jax player i'd be pissed
I think if I was a player I’d be pretty pissed. You lose a tough game on the road in the final seconds and your coach can’t even bother to fly back with you. Then you find out he was out partying. Players are men, not robots. They want the same commitment given to them that they are being asked to give.
I'd rather have Lawrence than Wilson but I'd rather have Saleh than Meyer. The owners are both disasters so that's a wash. The Jags are currently more dysfunctional due to the Meyer circus so I probably lean Jets currently. I still think Lawrence is going to be good though so it's really tough to pass up a young QB like that.
