QB by committee will only get you so far. It is not the path towards consistent offensive production. Maybe a win here and there, but you need one guy, one leader, one voice.
The Delay of Game thing was a rookie mistake. Getting time under center is the way he works things like that out. I agree it may be time. This team is not going far so I'd love to see what we have for the future at QB. Chad is not the man IMO.
The QB who runs the two minute drill should be the guy most capable of going 80 yards for a TD. That ain't Chad. You want a mid to long FG attempt? Then go with Chad. I seriously think Brooks Bollinger moved this team better in his last few games than Chad does in the 2 minute drill.
This is almost as dumb as you thinking we're going to trade Chad to Chicago in two weeks. Probably his best asset is his ability to run the 2-minute offense.
I already posted this in this thread, but you obviously skipped it, and didn't watch the game, either.... Clemens 10 Plays 73 Yards Time Consumed: 1:35 TOs used: 0 Pennington 8 Plays 35 Yards Time Consumed: 1:31 TOs used: 1 So Clemens went 38 yards further in 4 more seconds, without using a time out. Also consider that when Cotchery got hurt, the Jets took a 10-second run-off, so really, without the injury, Clemens took 6 fewer seconds than Chad. You want to say it's not fair because of Cotchery's long run after the catch? Well first of all, a lot of that is brought about by the ball getting their quickly, but let's ignore that. Cotchery caught the ball about 22-25 yards down the field on his 50 yard reception. Let's round it down to 20, for your argument. So that'd be only 43 yards, if Cotchery just caught it and fell down... Still further than Chad moved the team. Against a better defense, DESPITE the delay of game, in less time (if Cotch just caught it and fell down, we would have saved at least 5-6 more seconds as well)....
So you're basing the ability of both guys on one drive each, in Clemens' case his only drive and in Chad's case an unsuccessful one. Brilliant. You guys realize that QB is only an issue here on this website, right? In reality it's not an issue. But go ahead and entertain yourselves if you want.
colt brennan, brian brohm, john david booty, chad henne, nate longshore, drew olsen ,and my dark horse pat white or Kellen Clemens, we should find out instead of wasting time
Go read my response to you in the other thread.. I addressed Chad's entire SEASON there, as a counter to your worthless argument that he's been producing in the 2-minute offense all year...
arizona sucks....(so do we though) they are employing the 2 QB system in the desert b/c leinart isnt producing but the team doesnt want to crush his confidence so they are keeping him "the starter" and putting warner out there for "packages". this isnt the ncaa and it will not work for an full season. they might win a game or 2, but you need consistancy on both sides of the ball. especially when it comes to the QB.
Penny actually runs the 2 minute to perfection...its when hes got the shot downfield where he is limited.
I'm thinking that Whisenhunt has seen enough of Leinart to know that he's not going to be a great QB, maybe not even a good one. He has no investment in Leinart at all because Leinart's not his first round QB, so he's not worrying about getting canned if Leinart flops. He IS worried about getting canned a couple of years down the road if Arizona keeps losing 9 to 12 games a year so he needs to do something. And he happens to have Kurt Warner who is a fragile but good QB on the roster. So my guess is he's using Leinart until the Cards have to score and then he's going to Warner to get that done. And I agree that using Warner in this way is probably only worth a game over the course of the season, but if it gets the Cards to 8-8 it will be worth it to Whisenhunt.
