K Coleman: 'Obviously we're frustrated, but, it's really one or two plays that are killing us... I don't feel like this is a 1-5 team....' 'Frustrated about the record... we've got great guys, great players, it's frustrating' 'Continue to do what we're doing as far as preparation, when we get in the game, we gotta get it done when our numbers' called.. we're not getting blown out, these are close games to the end' 'Good to see we got some pressure on 'em' 'We gotta watch the film, learn from our mistakes, put this one behind us, concentrate on this next game'
Didn't we have the exact same discussion right before Herm finally decided to hand the team over to Chad?
so the only options you believe exist as possible coaches are what we have now and what we had prior to that? I disagree. I think there are possible coaches that posses the abilities that you believe Mangini has as well as the ones that he clearly doesn't. that is the coach I want. and what exactly are you disputing of my post? Coles has voiced displeasure with the regiment, and my post clearly projected that to future possible ramifications. I, in no way, stated any Coles mutiny as an absolute. but what he has said can logically be projected to the possible results I have presented, and that is what I am talking about. that shouldn't have been that tough to understand and shouldn't have warranted your irrelevant response.
Herm used a minor injury to Vinny as his excuse to try and give the team a spark with Chad... Mangini had that opportunity, started Clemens for one game, saw some good things out of him, and decided to sit Clemens back down, and get back on his knees for Chad
If anything can make fans understand just how much players don't get it, this is it. The only way a professional athlete can succeed is to believe in himself no matter what, which means that he is absolutely the worst person to evaluate his own play. Anyone who has watched football for even a short period of time knows that the checking down and jump balls are, in fact, exactly the same thing - an inability on his part to throw the hard pass in a tight spot. And yes, it is up to the QB where the ball goes 90% of the time, which is why they get paid so much more money than everyone else on the team. I don't expect him to stand up and say "I'm washed up, I'm finished, I should be pulled" - that's what the coach is for. I do expect him to take some responsibility for the fact that he has been one of the worst QBs in the NFL this year, and the fans have nothing to do with it.
Don't you think it's bizarre how both Chad and Mangini decided to place the blame on others, instead of themselves? You ALWAYS see on winning teams, the QB and HC take full responsibility for everything that goes wrong.. It's called leadership, and it's sorely lacking right now...
a lil off the subject- i cant wait to hear what mike greenberg thinks, him being a chad lover/jets fan
How smart is Payton in NO this year, how has Marvin Lewis worked out how about the great job Shanahan is doing bringing along Cutler? Coles bitched at Herm and Gibbs, I would be more worried if Coles wasn't bitching about Mangini.
Winston, quick question: if you think Mangini is holding off on putting in Clemens so as not to stunt his growth and get the playbook ready, then how come he hasn't at least put Tui in -- the point being, why hasn't he yanked Chad at all?
Because he has no idea what the Jets look like with anybody but Chad at QB and he's not 100% convinced that Chad is finished. It's a position that only a very young and inexperienced head coach could find himself in. Most NFL coaches who have been around the block a few times know that an ineffective QB is the fastest way to get fired and risk is preferable to sticking with somebody who is playing his way out of the job.
Thanks for the props but I don't think that's what's going on at all. I think they went with Chad in the off season for 1 reason, Clemens. I think they are probably in a little shock on how much Chad's arm has deteriorated and how it's effected his judgement to run the team. It's clear they want to look at Clemens but not put the pressure of being the team leader on him this season. Unfortunately they are going to have to adjust their plan. Chad is simply physically unable to play in the NFL anymore.
great, I will concede for the sake of argument that Mangini isn't any worse than those coaches. but what is your point? I am not asking he be replaced with a coach just as bad, I am talking about finding a coach that is better. I will concede that Lewis or Payton are not the guys either for the Jets, but that doesn't make Mangini the one because the aren't. there are more options.
That makes sense, but then how can you explain Herm Edwards, in 2002 (his 2nd year) taking advantage of a minor injury to an incumbent QB very early in the season, to switch QBs and give his team a spark? Herm was never even a coordinator, and he had the sense to make that decision.... It's kind of sad... But compared to what we have no, I miss Herm/Hackett
I have no objection to upgrading any part of the team the coaching staff or the ownership. If there is someone better out there I certainly wouldn't object to that in the least.
