1969 AFL playoff at Shea. Froze my ass off. We were at the KC 1 trailing by 3 and settled for a FG. Long game in horrible conditions. That was the last day we were the champions of football.

Denver playoff game. The Jets were primed and ready for the Super Bowl. Up at half time and just laid an egg in the 2nd half. Byars fumble.

If you guys want to watch here is the whole game. Harper fumbles on the opening kickoff and Walker lets a beautiful pass by Todd go off his chest in the first quarter alone for a sure TD. I also remember Gastineau trying to pick up a fumble instead of falling on it. He botched that big time and the Bills recovered. Then Todd throws an INT to Bill Simpson to end the game and has Gaffney open in the back of the end zone. I was at the Packer vs Jet game the week before when they blew them out 28-3 and also helped the Giants make their first playoff appearance in God knows how many years by beating the Packers. If Packers beat us Giants don't even make the playoffs.

I was 10 years old........my first Jets heartbreak. I was in tears after the game just staring out the window at the rain in my room....LOL.

If you want to torture yourself the whole game is on utube....there is also a different video that is a twenty minute highlight reel of the scoring plays. Your choice !!!

That's a very tough one also. It rivals Jets/Browns.

I have dozens of " worst games "....but I have to say in retrospect the Broncos game would have to be the worst because as you acknowledge the Jets had a 10 point lead and were about 25 minutes away from the SB and would have crushed Atlanta. So that game wins # 1 for me.....

The Browns game hurt bad but they never would have beaten the Broncos the following week and certainly wouldn't have beaten the Giants in the SB. That would have just added another painful memory...

I thought the story was that it had rained and they never turned on the drainage system. Nevertheless, Shula cheated and I've hated him and the Dolphins since then.

Yes that's what happened. They also did not have a tarp - Shula used the rain to his advantage. The Jets were a faster team.

The 83 and 98 AFC Championship games really suck because those were the years I was convinced the Jets were really vert good, not just lucky and happy to be there. Never really felt that way about Rex's teams.

Failed Namath bootleg. KC inspired by the goal line stand. Score a TD on second play from scrimmage on following possession. KC had a tough defense and the windy frozen weather didn't do either offense any favors.....sucked.

    R. Todd fucked that game up.
    Strike shortened season...meh.

It's a shame the Sack Exchange never got to the big one.

49-9 loss. Yes that game sucked too but not on my list simply because it was a meh season and the game was a true ass kicking....it wasn't a game that was blown.

You should never say the F word in the same sentence as "Bruce Harper".

At least Marino won the same number of Superbowls as Ken O'brien.

    "wes walker"? "wes"? Really? Jesus.

This would be an unappealable bannable offense if I were king.

The 83 game was worse. I always thought Denver was better than us and Denver is really tough for the road team. I thought in 83 we actually had the best team in football and we were on a roll. Vinny had a sick year in 98 but Elway was a much better QB and Davis was having one of the all time great years any running back had ever had. I thought going into Miami we were the better team on both sides of the ball.

Miami thought so also that's why the screwed with the field to take away McNeal.
