Not bragging. Just giving my opinion. I'm not a big believer in using 2 first rounder on OL when you just traded away the second best pure pass rusher in the history of the franchise. Not a big believer in using the second #1 on a center when you just signed one 2 weeks ago. Not a big believer in using a second rounder on a 6' 1" QB when you already have 3 on the roster. Not a big fan of using 5 picks on Safeties in 3 years. The #1 rule in Defense is put pressure on the QB. It's why Mario went #1 over Reggie Bush. Who is going to sack the QB on this team? I was all for trading Abe if they used a pick to TRY to replace him. Now, the whole trade has changed for me. What would I have done? Traded up from 29 to get Lawson. Was this possible? I don't know. After Dallas passed on him, it was all I could think of. If you think all message board posters have the same degree of access to information and knowledge of the game you are mistaken. Some posters here(not me) are ex-NFL players. Some have played D 1 college ball. Some know rules and regs. and clock management philosophy better than some coaching staffs(SEE> R.Kotite,H.Edwards and M. Martz) If I say I know what I'm talking about, take my word for it. My track record speaks for itself.
I think your better off sticking to that hard hat and chain saw (are you some confused Packers fan or something?)... As your posts show word usage does not seem to be your thing.
Yawn!!!!! Can we stop thie endless arguements, nobody is going to change another persons mind.We are all fans, have our favorities, opinions etc so to try and say that one person is right or wrong etc is fruitless.I would have liked our coaches to draft a Rt or RG , .I was hoping JeanGilles with our Comp pick in the third round, since to me that was a key pick.Picking at the end of round three is like picking number one overall on the second day.We drafted Eric Smith instead , i didnt get my wish, but i think maybe the front office belive in Morley, Clement, Cavka, Teague or the others on the roster.sO i defer to those who know this team better than i do.Lets just see how it plays out.
Just waiting for one poster to actually post a well-thought out logical response, based in some analytical thinking, as opposed to responding with a childlike grade school response. If you cannot add some useful post, dont respond. At this point, I am just throwing your poison back at you folks, and you dont like it - can dish it out but cant take it. Typical.
Apparently, you have not been reading your own thread, much less the countless others on the same exact subject. So sad for you.
I almost wish the site will crash for two days , maybe if it did, by the time we all came back, cooler heads would have prevailed.
Love your post-- i agree- it takes a lot less thought to just assume the FO got everything right. I agree with 3,5,6 being disasters-- very little upside with those picks-- frigging Schlegal ran a 4.9 at the combine! name me one good LB who is THAT SLOW.
Hey, I have already read 100+ posters that agree with the general sentiment that this was a typical JETS draft - shooting to be mediocre. This post was placed to engage in some intelligent dialogue. Obviously this original post has a strong view that this draft was horrible (considering what it could have been), but if there are some "real" responses as opposed to these one-liners, I am sure WE 100+ posters that did not like the draft would enjoy hearing the other side of why this was a great draft. Because as you said we are all JETS fans and on the same side.
So........ anyone want to get back to me on the no pass rush thing. Maybe one pick on an OLB or DE. Maybe their intimate knowledge of Bryan Thomas told them they don't need help at the position. What happens if Ellis gets hurt again this year? ouch.
Im sure Schlagel Run a 4.9 during his time at Ohio state and the Air Force academy when he made all those tackles and thats probably why he was a captain on that team that had all those players who were drafted.
