Schlaegel and now Smith. Nough said. 3rd round picks just wasted. Both players would probably not have even been drafted. JETS FO are embarassing themselves.
There are so many draft experts on here it's utterly amazing. The ability to know that picks not even a day old are going to suck is a real gift. I hate darksiders. It has to get old being miserable all the time...
Listen. I folow college football and the draft all year. I was juiced for this one. The Jets with the exception of last year had been pretty good as of late and I liked what we had done. This draft was an abortion. Who is going to get the QB? How many pass rushers did we pass on? Kellen Clemens is overrated for a 2nd rounder. Honestly, he reminds me of Bollinger. I give Tangini a F and I have never rated a Jet draft an F. Nick Mangold with 29? Disaster. Good player, but I'm not sure in 5 years if he will be the best center to come out of this draft. Same for D'Brick. Another F'n pick on a special teams safety? How many safeties can we carry?F'n mess.
What are you talking about with "darksider" and "miserable". I am one of the happiest and biggest optimists. Grow up and keep it to the football. Just because I disagree with your OPINION I am a fool and a dark pessimist. Sounds very fair. I objectively believe we screwed this one up, big time. How can you compare the following draft charts: JETS picks - Ferguson at 4 - Mangold at 29 - Clemens in the 2nd - Schlegal and Smith in the 3rd vs. what we could of had: - Davis at 4 - Addai at 29 - Justice in the 2nd - Croyle and Bing in the 3rd Is it just me, or would have the line-up below, given us a better chance this year.
If Matt Leinart doesn't pan out (which I don't believe he will, at least NOT as a Top 10 pick value), he sets a franchise back 5 years. A top 5 quarterback is supposed to provide Super Bowl-potential, and Leinart doesn't do that. Just because he won in college with the BEST TEAM doesn't mean he could do that at the NFL level. What the Jets did was right. Clemens is a good, value pick in the second round. Yes, I think they could've held off for Schlegl, and I definitely think they should've selected Bing/Simpson over Smith, but that's the way it goes. And I'm NOT going to grade drafts until they REALLY can be graded, 5 years down the road.
I'm ok with not drafting Leinert but Super Bowl potential??? Like Delhomme, Hasselback, Roethlesberger, etc. You don't need a monster QB to make the SB.
That's what I'm saying. A top-5 QB is supposed to eventually lead you to a Super Bowl, and if he doesn't pan out at all, it sets your franchise back 5 years for all the money you spent on him. A game is won and lost in the trenches, and the Jets have beefed up, at least on the offensive side.
You really should wait 3 years to judge a draft (or in this case..half a draft) If you're not comfortable with that, wait at least until they have played a year on the field. Or at least half a year. Maybe at least 4 exhibition games? No?...Certainly you can wait until training camp? mini-camp? OTAs? But, for God sakes, don't judge a draft before people have had THEIR SUNDAY COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"I give Tangini a F and I have never rated a Jet draft an F." your grades must carry a lot of weight where you come from.
if you are being objective, you would realize that football games are not won on paper, that means you could make a list of draft picks till the cows come home, until the ones we drafted flops on the field, hold off on the judgement. Would you not be overjoyed if these unknown, unwanted draft picks turn out to be pro bowlers in 3 yrs??? or will you still be saying how we should never have picked them over ...
No, you are actually showing how very little you know about the game of football, as well as how completely dependant you are on mock drafts to relate to that game. Youre not even green, you're like a seedling with a little piece of root sticking out the side.
Its amazing how the darksiders consider themselves Jets fans, and yet the Jets can dissappoint them this much by just drafting talent.. AMAZING !!! not even a team practice. Do all you guys who are extending "grades" on the draft so far realize that you are NOT part of the Jets organization and therefore have NO CLUE as to what there motives or goals are??? Even if they are reaching for talent, THEY are the ones that evaluated the talents with THEIR goals and objectives in mind. None of this has been shared with the public with the exception of saying earlier that they will be looking for smart players who are hungry and coachable.. PULL BACK.. and watch!!!!!
I get the draft book GMjr written by Russ Lande who was a pro scout and he has Clemens ranked 2nd in front of Young and Cutler.
LOL, We've been in drowning in [mock-draft/Mel Kiper said...] shit since last night with some of these guys.
