So it's easy to look back and say what a horrible pick Thomas was with Emmitt Smith on the table. How many of you were saying it then? A poor pick is decided at when the pick is announced (Brady over Sapp). Blair Thomas was not a poor pick. He was an unlucky pick. At the time, I had no issue with the pick whatsoever.

Roger Vick hands down. Pete Rozell looked at the card in amazement before he read his name aloud...

You kind of have to wonder though how Blair would have fared on the Jimmy Johnson coached Cowboys, with Aikman and that awesome line. I think alot of time rookies don't get the proper support and coaching they need and it damages them permanently. Conversely, I have serious doubts Emmit would have accomplished anything near what he accomplished in Dallas had he been picked by the Jets.

  4. You maybe right. The best FB in the league isn't worth a 1st round pick on any team...nevermind one who did very little to nothing like Vick.

Exactly. I wasn't disappointed that we drafted Blair Thomas at all.

    a couple things....

geez i forgot about the Vick thing... that was a terrible pick and the jets never truly explained the logic at the time.

also, i was hoping the jets would NOT take thomas and draft cortez kennedy instead OR trade out of the spot. The jets were NOT in a position to take a franchise RB at #2. Steinberg goofed on his 1st pick. I knew it and many other people knew it come year 2.

the only thing that would have validated the RB at #2 would have been 4-5 pro bowls from thomas and 5 straight 1200+ seasons.

oh well, so goes the jets
