Its unbelievable. Its that kind of attitude that has KEPT us from winning championships over the years. This mentality of instant results and gratification makes consistent winning impossible. I always laugh at all the Giants fans who want Coughlin fired all the time (I think Coughlin is awesome) but Jets fans are probably even worse and it keeps us from winning.
So you're telling us that you didn't think RR was the right guy for the job the past two offseasons? For obvious reasons, I find that hard to believe.
I take comfort in the fact that Giants fans were ripping Eli and Coughlin for years just like our fans are Sanchez and Rex. It's good to know there are other impatient, myopic fans out there as well.
Emotions. Frustration. It clouds the mind and hinders evaluation. We're human. For example, one month ago I was so pissed off about the offense I wanted Sanchez replaced and I went public with it. Now I've had time to clear my mind and did some research and I think we should stick with Sanchez long term (QBs take many years to perfect their game -Eli is a perfect example).
Im more worried about Woody Johnson. That turd only thinks about his PSL's and I could see him doing something drastic and stupid in an effort to increase/maintain sales.
Just because he has an image of being buddy buddy, doesn't Rex doesn't know how to yell at his players and all that..I distinctly remember watching on hard knocks him yelling at his #2's for playing so shitty after that Giants pre-season game.
Hey, just a suggestion. Can we at least have a losing season under Rex Ryan before people try to run him out the building? Oh, wait, no I guess this thread proves we can't. The sky must be falling again. Wow.. Look at that. You people that are STILL over-reacting to the point where you are making fucking retarded threads like this, really give our fan base a horrible rap. The worst. Please, go jump on the Gmen bandwagon, we don't need ya.
Rex is in over his head as a HC, he is a great DC and that is it, he does not have the discipline or leadership capibilities to lead the ship and Tanny is a joke of a GM. Rex teased us because of what we thought he was building and then when we saw what was behind the curtains we realized we saw the best that both he and Sanchez have to offer and now they both have made the Jets the laughing stock of the league and don't think for one second that all the free agents are lining up to come to the Jets. That ship has sailed my friend. It is time to blow it up and get the right people in to turn it around right now.
It is not only low character guys because every team has them. Half of the NFL is made up of thugs. It is the lack of leadership from the top down and no players in the clubhouse who can take charge of this crap. It is a sin to be a fan of a team that just can't get it right because they will not hire a head football guy to build something for the long term. I am so sick of a punk like Tannenbaum running this show. Remember his famous quote the day after the season when he was asked about Plexico. "One of the things that I looked most forward to this year was sitting around with Plex and picking his brain because he is so insightful." Give me a break, if you picking the brain of a guy who was dumb enough to bring a gun into a club and then shoot himself in the leg and not even know who the mayor of NY was, then you should not be the GM of a football team."
great thread lets fire the winningest head coach in franchise history and also the GM that drafted Mangold, Revis, Harris, Ferguson, Sanchez, Greene, Wilson, McKnight, Wilkerson and others since 2006 Ain't Same Old Jet Fans grand?
Crazy knee jerk reactions. So lets dump the coach who has made this team relevant in his three years here. Lets dump the coach who has taken this team to two AFC Championship games. Its ridiculous what people are suggesting on this board. Rex is a competitor and is extremely dedicated to making this team a winning franchise. And now so many people want him fired because some divas don't know how to act like adults and respect one another. Everyone on this team could have done better this year. They know that but to say they need to be fired is over the top imo. Oh and for those who call Sanchez a diva and soft and does GQ spreads and all. I guess you should say that about Brady who does UGG commercials and Aaron Rodgers who does commercials for State Farm. Give the kid some slack. Sure he didn't progress as we all expected but that what happenes when you have a wayne hunter on your team and schotty as your OC. I think this team will bounce back next season and I think Rex and everyone involved in this organization will do what they can and whats necessary to fix the problems.
Everything gets magnified as a Jets fan because it has been 43 years since they were relevant. For the fans that have been fans all those years there is no such thing as a knee jerk reaction, doing nothing would be the closest thing.
The only problem is you are talking of the SOJs which means it will be business as usual with NO changes being made besides Shottys exit
I'm not a nitwit who wants everyone fired for one bad season. Let's go back through history and look at coaches who Jet fans would have wanted fired: Weeb Ewbank prior to 1968- didn't have a winnin season w/ the Jets until his 5th year- FIRE HIM! Belichick prior to 2001- NE was 5-11 in 2000 after going 8-8 in '99- FIRE HIM! Coughlinprior to 2007- Giants hadn't won a playoff game his first 3 years- FIRE HIM! Coughlin again 2008-2010- missed playoffs 2 of 3 years after SB and didn't win a playoff game from '08-'10- FIRE HIM! Mike McCarthy prior to 2010- team won 1 playoff game in 4 years, lost title game at home, had under .500 season w/ Rodgers- FIRE HIM! Sean Payton prior to '09- one playoff win in 3 seasons, one playoff appin 3 seasons- FIRE HIM!
I will bet there are probably 50 examples of coaches during those same periods that should have been fired and were not or should have been fired and were. What's the point? 5 coaches that got better through luck (Belishit), a good GM or maybe they improved on their own.
That's why you can't take fan reaction seriously. You have to be an idiot to want Tanny fired if you look at his entire body of work. Sure he has made his mistakes, but who hasn't? This season was certainly was a step back, but lets see how we move forward. In 2009, the Steelers took a step back and missed the playoffs, then the next year they went to the Super Bowl.
