The reason I asked is because I'm of the opinion that Aboushi is going to be fine as our left guard, contrary to what our fans think, he did a very good job after winters went down.

Winters was a joke and was not improving after a year and a half in that position. The Jets also don't know what the they have with Dozier, but I say give him a chance in the RG spot before going out and signing FA on positions that could be taken care of from in house.

How many games did Slauson play last year? Yeah losing him was huge as he only played 5 games last year. Try again.

What did people expect Woody to say when asked during the year...with his GM and coach still in place. Did anyone expect him to say "yeah...that was stupid..we should have spent the money". Of course he coudnt.

I really have no problem with Woody saying what he did...makes me feel better about him because many of us that wanted to kill Idzik back in August for sitting on the money...Im happy our owner would have preferred to spend it on some decent CBs.

He pass blocked more guys in those five games than Winters / Aboushi, and Colon did in sixteen.

Aside from Mangold (who is not getting younger) all of our starters on OL should be replaced if we want to win the big game. If Brick can move inside to left guard we may be able to salvage him.

We will have to just disagree on this, I believe that Geno's inability to make the correct read in a decent amount of time makes it impossible for the offensive line to maintain their blocks on passing assignments.

So the the Jets can be a top 5 rushing team with just Mangold being considered the only good offensive lineman?

    I don't buy it.

This is another in a long list of exhibits of how Woody just doesn't get it.

    1. You don't throw employees (former or current) employees unnecessarily under the bus. If you're going to criticize the tactics (especially one you defended six months ago), then take the blame yourself - don't try and blame the guy you just kicked out the door,

    2. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the strategy of saving cap space for a spending spree this year. We weren't winning a title last year and there was no reason to piss away money to turn last season's team into a 7-9 team at the expense of the future,

    3. What were problems were two-fold: (a) What money Idzik did spend was spent poorly - he accomplished almost nothing in free agency, and (b) if you're going to tank a season by not spending any money, you cannot try and pass all the blame to your head coach - if you're gonna use that strategy, you have to give the head coach an extension and essentially proclaim to the world that you expected to be bad that season

What Woody does in this press conference is demonstrate that he has really no understanding of why the fans (the billboard crew, etc) wanted Idzik out of the building; he just did it to get the fans to stop complaining. Now frankly, I don't really care whether he got rid of him for smart reasons or dumb reasons, as long as he got rid of him. But for the future? Expect this buffoon (Woody) to continue to run the franchise incompetently because he demonstrates no understanding of how to run a successful business (and no, being a trust fund billionaire doesn't making you brilliant).

You have to consider the possibility that both Geno Smith AND the offensive line sucked last year.

The only reason we wee among the top rushing teams is that we were unable to consistently complete passes when we needed to and ran the ball a high percentage of the time.

Any oaf can run block, pass blocking is what separates the men from the boys.

Do you really believe that Woody didn't know exactly what was going on. Idzik reported directly to him. Esp. when it concerns money. They went over this many many times.
