Ryan said at his presser today that Woodhead was tough when he played Wes Welker on the scout team. He did not define what he meant by tough. He did say Woodhead could be a jack of all trades, playing running back or slot receiver.

Considering how many healthy WRs we have I think it is actually... maybe since Sheppard is coming back we'll cut a CB to make room for him? (let it not be Cole please).

Maybe, if Cotch and Smith are both out we may not have a choice.

With Braylon, Wallace, and the Clown though we could hold the fort down.

Put Keller in motion out their too, him in BE are very similar in size, that's a matchup nightmare.

I like this a lot. The best part of this kid's game is his unbelievable quicks. I don't know that he's durable enough to ever be an impact running back, but he could shine at receiver if he transitions well. Look at what New England has done with Edelman.

I don't claim to have enough knowledge to think up formations and schemes so I defer to those who know their X's and O's better than I do but...

Woodhead lining up in the backfield as a threat to either rush or break off on a route might give defenses some problems.

I like this, and wouldn't mind seeing him in action against, say, the Raiders. Rather not have him rushed into it this week against Buffalo.

would love to see him in #80 instead of 83. seems like he has the tools but by the time we bring him up hes gonna be 30 and have the speed of tj. id also rather see him in the slot in the preseason at rb he looked like someone in madden that only holds down the turbo and runs straight.

I bet you're correct. If the guy has earned the spot and our secondary has problems covering him in practice why not?

Kotite gave Wayne a chance, doubt Parcells would have kept him his rookie year? If that's what Rex believes then go for it, I'm not going to second guess.

I've been pretty depressed since Monday and haven't had the stomach to read the sports pages or visit this site much, but this news about Woodhead made me smile.

I would love to see this guy get his shot and excel.

^ I agree , once again a lot of hype about someone who has never played - he's a beast . Its amazing how he's being compared to Welker when he's never taken 1 live NFL snap at WR.

Personally, I'd rather see Marcus Henry suit up as it would give us three tall recieving targets ( Henry/Edwards/Keller) , we already have Leon who can do the things many want to project for Woodhead.

Except Welker weighs at least ten pounds less than Woodhead............

This kids proven he can play so why not see what we can do to get him some playing time.
    I'm all for the experiment.

A few people on here are talking about him suiting up at WR as soon as this week. Don't you think he'll need time to learn the position? I assume learning how to run routes effectively and all should take a while. They always say not to expect much from your WR until 3 years after they're drafted and that's for people who played WR in college - you'd think it would be even harder for RB's to learn. I'm guessing Rex and Shotty are getting the ball rolling for Woodhead to be a WR in 2010.

If cotch and smith both cant go i do know wallace wright has a banged knee maybe you could see Woodhead out there sunday but i doubt it. 5'7 195 pounds , great speed maybe he can be a solid slot receiver.

Someone here had a shot of him as their avatar and I thought it was a picture of the poster for a long time. He just looks like an average kid.
