But they are a much better-coached team, so the talent differential seems even greater than it really is.
Eh...coaching and talent goes hand in hand...for example, Spags probably wouldn't look as good with the Jets talent on D.
you can keep making excuses for the CS, but at last count there are a lot of players on the team that this regime put there.
Not to mention they've had plenty of time to add talent... 2 offseasons is not an insignificant amount of time... After two offseasons, Bill Parcells transformed the #29 ranked D in the league into the #2 ranked D (going by points allowed). The 27th highest scoring offense became the 5th highest scoring offense... That is a rebuilding job.... Hell, I would have been happy with results half as good as those after two offseasons... Instead, we've gone from 29th in points score in our injury riddled, chaotic 2005 season, where we were down to our 3rd and 4th QB to 25th two years later.... We've gone from 23rd in points allowed in that same chaotic 2005 season to 19th.... Oh, and one more thing.... Of our 22 offensive and defensive starters, 15 were brought in or promoted by this Coaching Staff.... Those who weren't, are still arguably our most talented players (Kerry Rhodes, Shaun Ellis, Dewayne Robertson, Brandon Moore, Laveranues Coles, Chris Baker, Eric Barton)
You know I think Mangini is a good coach and has the making of an excellent HC but if you look at both staffs it's not even close the Giants blow us away. Besides the fact that they are much better than us at both OC, they have drafted better, had a better approach to FA and they are still 20 million under the cap for next year with very few contracts to deal with.
Huh??? Step back.. This poll was started well before the Super Bowl. And.. the comparison is with Chad Pennington, WTH is saying this guy did anything on his own???? He's clearly better than Pennington though so, kudo to those who got that right.
The question was who IS a better QB..... That's clearly meaning today and from here on out.... You can twist the past and stats all you want - I'm looking at talent all along and I think this debate is pretty much over. And why would I bump this, I knew the answer all along and I don't bump threads myself much and I already knew the answer to this question anyway, I said all there was to be said - Talent wise Eli had a lot more to give than Pennington, no need to tell me how much they showed TO YOU "so far".. Cuz we all watch talent and evaluate it differently TO ME, I always knew which guy, color of jersey aside, was and is a better talent.
LOL.. well some of us actually look at THE PLAYER and understand what's going on around said player and analyze how good the player can be.... I saw a Giants team that was devastated by injuries last year that could very easily have won a playoff game that you weigh so much of your "analysis" on.... You twist your numbers to tell you whatever you want - But, some of us will actually look at what the player can do and NOT use excuses..... I suppose you don't value playoff wins so highly with any other position, like when you compare RB's??? Only QB's???? See, Chad always had a ceiling on how good he could get and it looks like the coaching staff here finally feels that way as well..... And puhlease.. "The Jets would have a Super Bowl IF blah blah blah and Penngington..." Just say you were wrong and move on. Once again, you look too much at numbers and fail to put the most emphasis on TALENT. To me, if I see the talent, the numbers will come, I don't need to hang on to numbers and then twist them, with excuses of players around him, coached and better defense to show where I was wrong... Cus, in the end TALENT trumps all. And in the end if Penny was better than Eli, he'd be the Jets starting QB now, lasty year and in the near future....
Stop with that.. In 06' the Jets were REMARKABLY healthy while the Giants had a lot of injuries..... Only you thought that Jets team was so much better. Things only change quickly if you're not taking into account ALL the reasons why your numbers show what they do... It's foolish to rely so much on numbers and declare guys not so good based on that.
Junc.. Bottom line in every debate I've had with you seems to be that You are a "I'll believe it when I see it" type Guy..... No vision. That's fine and dandy - But, you will always be 1 step behind anyone who can analyze talent - Now, of course a lot of that is opinions and sometimes you see it and it doesn't come to fruition but, somehwere someone has to actually step up and give opinions based on actually talent they feel is there......I don't see the Fun you get here debating everyone this way. You must be horrible trying to grasp the NFL: draft and rookie players - I guess that's why you don't post draft stuff often. You're an after the fact guy. In your world, it's hard to give any player credit unless they rip the league up but, there's a lot of talented players out there that for some legitimate reason, it all hasn't come together yet - You blow these guys off until it's too late, once you're on board with a player he's pretty much a Pro Bowler..well, or a Jet. You're a good Monday Morning QB..... Here you are with a ton of evidence against you but, instead of saying hmmm, maybe Eli is better, I'm reading maybe 3 excuses so far or more and then a "wait and see" for Eli...... Good luck with that... I still have my money on Eli like I did 6 months ago, like I did 12 months ago..... Like I alwys will. You take pride in being ":Argumentative"... I see it as a flaw - Like a kid who covers his eyes and ears and doesn't even want to acknowledge the truth.
