If Cutler is going to be moved, the Jets need to be in on this. I'd give up a 1st and a high pick next year for Cutler. At some point, the Broncos will determine that Cutler just isn't going to want to play for McDaniels and will trade him. This situation just doesn't look like it will have a good ending. Their loss could be our gain. Acquiring a QB like Cutler would more than make up (for me) the wasted 2008 campaign. It'd be nice to have a QB pencilled in for the next 5+ years. Get it done Tanny, start with this year's 1st rounder and see what more Denver wants on top of that.

I think Denver would trade Cutler if they like one of the QBs in the draft and get him at their own 12 pick or through a pick they get in a trade. So if Denver doesn't take Josh Staf-chez at 12, you better hope somebody Denver likes is still there at 17. Honestly, trading for Cutler could bring this team a Super Bowl. I know people will argue otherwise, but I already saw how everyone changed their minds on Favre the second he was traded to the team. Truth is, if Cutler ever becomes a Jet this whole board will be gay for Jay.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him traded to Detroit for their 2 first rounders. I'd definetly give up #17 + a little more for him though. In my opinion, there are less than 10 quarterbacks currently in the NFL who can carry a team to a Super Bowl, and I think Cutler is one of them.

Unfortunately, I don't think Tanny's cap projections included a $100mm contract in the next couple of years. So, in addition to getting comfortable with a high price, it may not work financially.

If the Jets want to address the QB situation, which I think is 2nd behind our WR situation, we should be in on this.

I don't know if I would trade #17 tho, I still think a WR is a big necessity right now and with some of the mocks I've seen, Nicks will be there at 17.

If I were to make the offer right now, I'd trade our 2nd rounder, our 3rd rounder, and a 3rd next year. I still think we keep our 1st rounder, if they get something better for him than that, so be it. Unless we can find SOME way to get Cutler AND a good WR in the draft, I don't want this. We have a good line to protect our QB whoever it is and I have faith in whoever we put behind center. Call me crazy, but, I guess that's just how I feel now.

If you could have Cutler at QB and Clowney/Stuckey/(Britt in the second?) at WR thats gotta be a better situation than Ratliff/Clemens at QB with Nicks at WR...

I'm not sure I want to go that far.

I'll root for him, yeah, but that's about it.

I would hope that Tanny would be able to figure out a way to pay a franchise QB if we found one. If not then we're screwed at the QB position for as long as he's here anyway. Cutlers current contract is pretty reasonable but he does get expensive in '11.

7/27/2006: Signed a six-year, $47.86 million contract. The deal contains $11 million guaranteed, including a $1.7 million signing bonus.
    2009: $1.035 million (+ $100,000 workout bonus)
    2010: $1.4225 million (+ $4 million roster bonus)
    2011: $1.81 million (+ $12 million roster bonus)
    2012: Free Agent.

45% of the deal's max value is performance incentives. Among them is a $1.95 million escalator for any year of 2006-2010 that he finishes in the top five in any of the NFL's major passing categories, as well as a $4 million bonus for taking 70% of the snaps in 2009. There also is a $500,000 bonus available 2006-2010 for taking 70% of the snaps and either taking 70% of the snaps in a Super Bowl or winning a Super Bowl.

I don't care, I'd rather have Cutler than an unproven QB we have now.
