hmmm..... never really thought of it, but it could happen. Cutler could be the next Jeff George. hmy:
You do realize that he is only the 13th QB in history to throw for more than 4500 yards right? And no, he did not have one of the best lines in league history. The other QB's to throw for more yards: Marino Warner Bledsoe Brady Moon Fouts Culpepper Green Gannon P.Manning Brees Lomax To top that off, only Marino, Bledsoe, and Lomax did so at an earlier age. At least half of these QB's have made the superbowl and 3 are currently HOFers with 3 more already shoe-in's or right on the cusp. Man I would hate to have a QB who is lumped in with the likes of these scumbag QB's...
I'm a big Cutler fan and if his defense was worth anything he would've made the playoffs this year. I would trade this years 1st and another conditional in 2010 with implications similar to the Favre trade (3rd based on playing time, 2nd on playoffs, 1st for Super Bowl). Denver could then trade up with 12 and 17 and take Sanchez and start over if they wanted.
I would give up this years 1st and next. In my opinion hes the only piece we need and he would be our Qb for the next 7-8 years. Sure he would have little to throw to at first but WR's can be found a lot easier than QB's. He kept that Denver team competitive and they had no running game or defense. just think what he could do with a defense to cover his mistakes and a running game to keep the opposing defenses honest. I honestly think we are dreaming here though and this will never happen.
I live out in Boulder, and the local radio station is reporting that Cutler has put his house on the market. Not that it means anything, but I thought I would fan the flames.
Bledsoe and Lomax would have been lousy trades for several high picks after their early career success. Think about it.
I would love to get Cutler, but I don't think he fits in with Rex Ryan and a run-first offense. He's damn talented though. I think it's the mistake of a rookie coach. Cutler seems to have a ton of pride and faith in himself. McDaniels comes from the school of thought that no one is untouchable, which I tend to agree with. The mistake came with being honest. He should have just told Cutler that he was the guy. And as a young, new coach, he wanted to get someone who knew his system and was already productive in it if he was available because it would lessen the learning curve and probably lead them closer to getting back to the playoffs in his first year.
Update! Cutler puts his Denver home up for sale. Clearly, things are still very unsettled in the mile high city with Cutler and the CS. Good! Screw McDaniels and his ex-Patriot ass...I hope he falls on his face this season. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-broncos-cutlershouse&prov=ap&type=lgns
The news in Denver is now saying that his parents just put their Denver house on the market as well. My guess he is done in Denver.
Why should anyone listen to anybody that comes from Belichick's coaching tree? To this date they have all been awful as head coaches.
Tanny should be seriously making a pitch for Cutler. Jay knows we wanted to draft him and were aggressively trying to move back up in the 1st round to get him when Denver picked him. Regardless of anything you guys may post, we all know the offense would be much improved with Jay at QB. A 1st and 3rd for him would work, even a 1st this year and 2nd next year would work. If the FO really believed Kellen is the answer they wouldn't have signed Brett last year and they would have given Kellen an extension by now. If we don't at least put a real offer on the table for Cutler, Tanny should be fired. Hell I feel he used Mangini as a scapegoat to save his ass this year.
you don't get a probowl and young franchise qb for just one #1 draft pick. your another guy i have a bridge to sell in heaven off fairy tail highway!!!! cutler may be a loud mouth whining jerk, but he's pretty much proven he can be a top flite qb in this league, and he will never come as cheap as your wishful thinking... again, some people thinking other nfl teams are going to allow the jets to rape them for good players and draft picks to fulfill some jets fan's WET DREAM!!!!!!!!
The Star-Ledger this morning reports that Denver says Cutler isn't going anywhere. But the blurb also pointed out that his house is for sale for $2 Million, and there has been no explanation for that, so who knows?
how many draft picks did it cost for that other qb in new york a few years ago? a lot more than your wishful thinking, that's for damn sure!!!!!! cutler will cost at a minimum, at least what manning cost the giants... because cutler has already done what no one knew about e.manning, a proven qb that can play in this league...
17 + next years 1st plus clemens and One of Jenkins Revis or Harris, thats the only way, and believe me cutler would be amazing but, he aint worth that
Now to add to that little wrinkle, ESPN just flashed at the bottom of the screen that Cutler's parents have just put up their house for sale too. And I doubt this is all because they think they will be getting top dollar for it...kind of interesting.
