Prediction: Cutler to Buffalo...they're really got nothing at QB and their ancient owner is getting desperate (TO). If he goes anywhere, he goes to Buffalo...and he gets to screw New England anyway.
Not really sure how he could have "failed in his playoff performances" being that he has never been in a playoff game...
obviously if he can be had without breaking the bank you go for it, but no one player is worth blowing up an entire draft for. im also curious to see what ratliff or clemens can do with a above average offensive line in front of them. also we all want leon to get the ball more, so having one of these younger guys will result in less passing, and more touches for leon. so having an unproven qb to start the year isn't going to the end of the world.
I can't believe some people wouldn't even want this guy on the Jets. The numbers he's put up in the first 3 years of his career are second to few. The Broncos defense has SUCKED those 3 years and they have still won a decent amount of games. He has all the physical tools and has proven he can get it done at the NFL level. Give him a solid defense, offensive line and running game and you're looking at a true superbowl contender. This guy is a franchise QB. I would offer them this years first, Clemens and next years 2nd and see if they bite.
Actually you may want to listen to the radio once in a while. There are clips out today....he still sounds pissed.
+1 IMO, there are no "franchise" QB's coming out of this year's draft that don't have question marks surrounding them.....and the FA cupboard is bare....sorry Leftwich fans. Getting Cutler is worth looking into.....
thats the type of offer i would want to see. giving up multiple high picks this year wouldn't be the way to go about it. but with the defense that we have right now and cutler at qb this team would already be a contender. not wanting him at all is just dumb.
FUCK YEAH! I would do freakin' back flips if we could pull this off, and your trade offer sound viable. I doubt it will happen, because it would be too much like right, but a guy can dream.
The thing about bringing in Cutler is that he'll come in as the starter and we still won't know what we have in Clemens and Ratliff. This is why i'd rather bring in Troy Smith... 1) He'll cost us much less in a trade 2) We can just add him to the QB competition so that Clemens and Ratliff still have a chance at proving themselves, 3) IF Rex were to bring him over it would be because he already thinks he has good potential.
If we brought in Cutler he would be the starter for a long time (barring injury). Clemens or Ratliff would be expendible. You don't pass on a young proven franchise QB just because you want to find out if Clemens or Ratliff can be the guy.
bringing in cutler means we never need to find out what ratty and clemens have. we get a proven qb instead. im as intrigued as anyone else about what ratliff can do, but to want to take a chance on someone who may or may not work out over a proven pro-bowl caliber qb just seems insane to me.
you guys are nuts, i would give up 1 and 2 and 3 for this guy, He put his team on his back, imagine if he had a run game and a d like were going have? CHAMPIONSHIP
Worth a look as usual, but I wouldn't want to overspend ... a 1st 2nd and 3d is nuts. This isnt' madden and Ditka is not our coach! I'd give them a 2nd and maybe a 4th next s.. well .. not a 4th 3d or 5th next season
why not give them every pick for the next five years? if Denver is even considering trading him at this point, they have zero leverage because they are admitting they don't want him or his attitude to distract the team. why would you give them a 1st 2nd and 3rd when the team trading for him has the leverage. doing so is as ridiculous as every pick for 5 years -- it isn't necessary.
You could make next years pick conditional based on Clemens' play. 1st if he plays less than 30% of the offensive snaps, 2nd if it's less than 50% and a 3rd if he plays more than that.
McDaniels, who has seen a franchise QB in operation closeup, obviously does not think Cutler is a franchise QB. Why we would debate his wisdom is beyond me. He's only been the quarterback's coach followed by offensive coordinator/quarterback's coach for one of the best offenses in football the last four seasons. Coaches do NOT come in to a job where they have a young franchise QB in hand and then start talking about trading him away. It NEVER happens. If you have a franchise QB in hand you giggle a little bit and start working on the Hall of Fame bid. First McDaniels tried to trade for Matt Cassell, which should speak volumes about how he regards Cutler, who was a much higher valued player going into last season, and now he has told Cutler that nobody is guaranteed to make the team. That's the equivalent of Josh McDaniels yelling "Jay Cutler is not a great QB" at the top of his lungs, repeatedly. I for one think everybody should listen to him. He's the one with his balls on the line in the situation and it's not stopping him from doing whatever he can to get a better QB than Cutler to rely on.
