Another Chad waiting to happen..you mean another QB with a 90+ qb rating that wins games? I'll take that in an instant. If you mean injury prone? There is no way to predict that. Young is the second coming of Michael Vick..he will far much further in the draft then people think.
Yup. Talking about the same guy. Di anything in my post say he wasn't clutch? No. I said that when you apply consistant pressure to him, he is average at best. His OL generally gave him days to throw. The only reason they were ever in a remotely close game was when the opposing D solved their OL and got pressure on Leinart. Again, I love the guy, but I'm a USC homer. Put him on the Patriots and he wins games. Put him on the Cardinals and he'll be considered a bust. He's in the Brady/Penny mold. Average arm, no mobility, but very very smart.
If they want to get Hawk, they have two options, the Titans and the Jets, because anything lower and Hawk could very well be off the board. The Titans aren't going to make a move, because I assume they're content with getting either Ferguson or Leinart (or Young perhaps), and the Jets aren't really stable enough right now to predict. They might have no other choice than to just take Hawk, and honestly, I wouldn't think it was a bad choice or a reach whatsoever. The Saints also have to worry about Green Bay jumping them to #3 if NO and the Jets switch.
Very few young QBs are going to be good if their OL is bad enough that they are consistently pressured. It's not something that he needs to work out personally, it's a matter of building a line that will give him time to throw; without that it's impossible to win football games anyway. Also, the general belief seems to be that Leinart is a start from day one type, but he's really not. Because he relies so much on the mental aspects, like you said, it'd be better for him to sit a half a year or so to adjust to the NFL game. Hopefully in that time (if he were a Jet), the OL would have time to gel and wouldn't make his first few games in the NFL hell on earth.
Leinart reminds me alot of Chad.....i dont think he's that durable either.....it will be a mistake to move up for him.....IMO
By who? I watched him throw for 2 years. There is no zip at all on his deep ball. All his long TD's came because his WR had a 10 yard seperation on the CB.
Exactly.......if anything, we should move down. C'mon Jets, dont blow this and trade up..........we need to rebuild with lots and lots of picks.
You mean the same kid that struggled throughout the entire game and is solely remembered for that one drive? Clutch, yes. But I'd rather have a QB that can consistently play well. The last drive is not the only drive that counts in a game. Reggie Bush won that game for them. And I am not talking about the final push into the end zone. I'm talking about his numbers and the ability he showed in that game. Whatever you do, do NOT point to the ND game as a reason to pick Leinart. He faced competition for the first time this past season in that game and he did exactly what I expected of him until that last drive. He folded under pressure. You draft him for other reasons, not the ND game. You pass on him because of the ND game.
You're only fooling yourself with such praise for Pennington. Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see the guy play well. But you cannot believe he'd be one of the best. A lot of players have had one good season. Pennington is one of those.
It is not going to be funny when we move up to #2 to take Mr USC and he turns out to be a bust. We should stay at #4 or move down and take Cutler.
Only an idiot would trade away picks to move up 2 spots. We have entirely to many holes to fill to be giving away picks to move up from 4 to 2 when one of the big 3 will still be there at #4 Ellis
