With Rex Ryan calling the shots, this Jets Defense should be one of the best around.

We still have no pass rush. Nothing has been done to improve the front 7 from that standpoint. Rex is all talk at this point. Its gonna take time, please we ain't no top defesne

Finally, with these new players and a new coach in Rex Ryan calling the defense shots, (hopefully) we will be proud to be known as Gang Green. I feel other fans/teams only know us as the Jets, but will now look at us as Gang Green.

""Defense mechanism much? I'm not sure how you're in a position to take a jab at the Ravens when you support the New York Jets.

It's actually a bit more funny seeing as how your GM has literally tried to transplant our team over to New York.

Rex Ryan could been deemed a "good" coordinator overall, but he was atrocious when it came to crunch time. If you judged Ryan purely on the first three quarters, his schemes were pretty damn good, but the final few drives were pathetic and frustrating.""

send us Ed Reed while you guys are at it.

rofl bart scott is so replaceable......funny guy. has anyone ever thought a slower less agile ray lewis has bart scott covering TE's and taking on OL so Lewis can make his jump pile tackles?

listen Bart Scott is far from the second coming of Ray Lewis, but I'm surprised a Ravens fan has the arrogance to think the defense wont miss a beat with a new DC and 3 unproven's competing next to Lewis.

the only thing I'll give him is that Antwan Barnes is an animal and if anyone can be aggressive downhill LB next to Lewis itll be him. but that still remains to be seen.

that being said, we had an inept DC and a defensive coach who sat with his thumb up his ass as far as gametime adjustments go. we solidified our secondary and will be able to blitz more with scott in the mix. so the defense is instantly upgraded, look forward to seeing this. now we need DL depth.

I don't see what's so funny about it. I've had exchanges with a number of Ravens fans since the Jets hired Ryan and have been told repeatedly that while he is a 'good' coordinator, his scheme was only made possible through the talent of the assembled roster. Now the Jets are pursuing some standouts from that roster. It makes sense to me. Sounds kind of like sour grapes from you. Which I can understand. I've had plenty of Jets players I liked leave New York and do well elsewhere, and felt the same way.

I know it seems like the jet fans here are over optimistic, however you never had a DC like Bob Sutton running your defense, you take it for granted when your defense dominates and gives up 10 points in the 4th Q and wins the game, we had leads of 17 plus points vanish because we rushed 3 linemen starting in the 2Q because we were afraid of putting pressure on the QB....I don't know if you saw the Seattle, Niners, Bronco's games but there was no pressure on the QB due to our 3 man pass rush....and yes I'm aware that the Ravens system had been in place well before Rex took over, but you did win a SB with that system, so if we are happy that we have a man who can put in place a system that is based on attacking, like Pitt, and Balt, and Pats, we ask you don't rain on the parade man let us have our fun and take the good with the bad, if we get one SB after implementing this defensive system I don't care how close the games are...it will be well worth it!

I would say my biggest concern now is we need depth on the DL, and a FS would help too. But yes, I think many holes have been filled and we can now look forward to drafting talent over need.

Bart Scott himself came in to take the place of another departed linebacker who before that took the place of another departed linebacker. Rex Ryan replaced a coordinator who before that replaced another coordinator. It's a system.

Barnes has potential, but he's probably the least likely of Gooden/Barnes/McClain to pan out and fill the void of Bart because Antwan is not really a pass rusher. He is a beast, though, and will find some way to get playing time.
