Yeah, but you're not answering the question. How do you know? Who's to say he can't step in and totally dominate? Also -- do you think the Trey Teague and Anthony Clements signings have fixed our O-line woes? Why not take the best prospect on the board? Is he not ranked in the top 3 on everyone's boards? I believe he is #2 on the scouts inc. board. Do you know something that the rest of the world doesn't know?
I agree with what you're saying mostly, but remember that common knowledge also says you don't draft a LB that high either. Usually these days it's either QB, RB, DE or WR... occasionally you see a CB. Every once in awhile you'll see an OT.
D'Brick is a "safe" pick because he is a low risk for being a complete bust. This year more than ever the jets cannot afford to take a big risk with their first pick. They need a big-time,impact, franchise type player to build around. Either D'Brick or Mario fills this need. They simply cannot afford to burn a pick on a boom or bust guy like Cutler or Young.
D'Brick at #4 and Mangold at #29 could shore up our offensive line for years. The offense is NOTHING without a good o-line (Example: Last year) and we sure dont have a good one now.
shut the F up already, there are 9 billion threads about this, and a ton today just because we signed a one year depth OT for league vet minimum...so unless anymore genius types want to spring out of the ground without knowing what the hell they are talking about and make themselves look like complete idiots then go ahead and do so, just stop making new threads on it...
If we were to get players that took a couple of years to develope....and say it took him 3 or 4 years look at our D-Fense not so young anymore Heres an example When Chad became a starter Marvin Jones and Mo Lewis were way past their prime.... If we were to get a player who would best Adapt to the NFL Quickly and efficiently we could have an OVERALL domanant team, not just Hey the JEts have a Great Defense but their Offense is OK.... We get a team as a WHOLE who would all hit their prime at the same time we have a CHampionship team.... Oh Yea and what i was attempting to say was that the way the JETS have drafted in the last couple of years its either been all Defenders coming out like the 2004 draft or all offense.....The only exception is the year we had a great draft which was 2000.
Trey Teague and Anthony Clements play positions where we still need an upgrade. We need to upgrade the entire OL, except for LT. With the holes we have, it doesn't make much sense to pay big money to a player whose position we already have filled with a young player who is developing into a good starter.
This post actually threatens my faith in humanity. Let me get this straight: We should not draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson because we already have a decent starter at LT. So we should draft a tight end??? The Jets had the worst offensive line in football last year and D'Brickashaw Ferguson would be an immediate upgrade over Adrian Jones (who I thought should've been playing right tackle all along.) Just becuase we have a decent starter at the position doesn't mean that we should pass up the best tackle to come out of the draft in some 5 years. We have a tight end (Baker.) We have a defensive end (von Oelhoffen/Thomas.) We even have a quarterback (Ramsey.) Why should webe precluded from taking D'Brick because of Jones but we should not be precluded from taking Daivs, Williams, Young or Leinart?
why? Why would we pick a QB when we have two former #1s and three potential starters at that position already on the team?
We see what happened when we had a shitty O line. Lets not have a repeat performance of having to resort to our third string QB. Lets get the best Offensive Tackle prospect there is. Keep these friggin pass rushers off our QB. Draft D'Brickashaw.
