I remember when Klecko ripped him years ago (when Wilk was playing well) on the post game show saying he takes plays off. Boy was he right. Good riddance
I don't remember where I read it but it was an article or something about how the biggest detriment for Mo was the fact that he signed the contract extension while pretty much being in his hometown. As in, he's forever had people mooching on him and giving him detrimental advice. I don't know what happened to him after he signed the extension. I don't know if some of it was post-injury issues or him just losing his desire to play. I don't know if we'll ever know for sure unless he says it himself, but it's a good move for both sides. We got rid of a bunch of bad apples last season and unfortunately, Mo Wilkerson was the remaining bad apple. Hopefully he learns from these past 2 years
if they make it a June first cut they have to count his number until June 1st limiting us in the FA market in march, so thats doubtful.
Mac didn't exactly cover himself with glory when looking at how the Harrison, Richardson, and Wilkerson situations all turned out. Wonder how Williams will turn out.
Apparently Bowles was interviewed a few minutes ago and he said that Mo being cut was a business decision. Although true given his production versus his contract, hard to argue Jets wouldn't have retained him if he was actually worth the contract he received and not so problematic off the field
he pulled an albert haynesworth. it's a shame to see such a talent go to waste. wilk was a beast on his rookie deal and as soon as he got paid he got fat and lazy.
you know what's insane? now that we cut wilk, we don't have a single player who counts 10+mil against the cap.the highest cap charge is beechum at 9.5mil. i'm pretty sure we are the only team in the NFL that doens't have a 10+mil cap charge on at least 1 player
I like the guy I consider him a good Jet overall he did a lot of good here. I don't know what happened the last couple of years. Jets should've tried working out a pay cut instead of taking the lazy way out releasing him. Mo is still young enough, talented enough to be productive. Watch the Giants sign him then he turns into one of their defensive leaders/best players in a big bounce back season.
Mac inherited a WEALTH of talent on the defensive line. Harrison/Richardson/Wilkerson all pro bowlers or all-pros. turned 3 young all-pro players into a 2nd round pick, Jermaine Kearse and a $9mill dead cap hit. yikes. I feel very confident that he will make the right decisions this offseason lol
I'm still unsure who I dislike more: Revis or Wilkerson. Might be Mo actually. As he flat out STOPPED TRYING after being paid. He has been here since 2011, where the Jets made 0 playoff appearances during that stretch. Good riddance. He has talent. If he tries, he will likely be a bargain for his next team, which makes me dislike him even more! Haha.
doubtful they have little cap and are paying big money to JPP and vernon at DE plus ODB is coming up for a mega contract. sadly i see the patriots as possible
easily wilk. he took the money and ran. revis was just selfish but he was the best for quite a few years. might be decades before we see a CB play like revis did for us in the NFL again
Drafted late in the 1st round who was dubbed an elite 3-4 de prospect. He was that for the better part of 4 years. He breaks a leg, gets that fat deal and completely disappears for the following 3 years. He’s a guy that doesn’t live for the game. He’s not hungry. My gut tells me he flames out and signs a bunch of 1-2 year deals and is a rotational player.
