Refs should at least try not to decide games. Those refs should be fired, fired, fired. It looks like someone paid them. Even that bad hit against Brown could have been dealt with through suspensions and penalties. There is no need for unsportsman like conduct at the very end of a game. I've never seen anything like this before.
Well, I'd be rooting for Denver any way, but this certainly does nothing to make that difficult in any way. Really really looking for a KC - Denver AFC Championship game. Ooh, Boomer is fired up, and he and Cowher are rightfully going after Lewis. I wonder if this could be the final straw that costs him his job. This makes Coughlin's performance with Beckham not look so bad.
The real winners today were Denver and New England. The Pats get a Chiefs team without Maclin and Denver gets a Steeler team with a compromised Ben and backup RB's.
Boomer, and Cowher killing Lewis for not being able to control his players. Coughlin making a visit to Cincy this week?
Do you know how much stuff the refs probably let go in these situations? I'm guessing tons. But when you cross the line, like Jones did, it forces the ref to make that decision. And I hate refs and I hate the steelers. But Cincy lost this game based on their stupidity. Nothing else.
Honestly though, I was mocked endlessly on this board for suggesting this crap could be rigged. You see this shit and still think I'm crazy? That was WWE bullshit. Yet another NFL game is decided by calls from the referees and not play on the field
Hell no. If they are going to call the Bengals for bullshit penalties, they should call the Steelers for theirs. It was one-sided as hell.
Yep, I heard this on the radio this morning. Nothing but speculation but assuming Cincinnati loses, Coughlin is a perfect fit. Win-now team. I can't believe that's the way they lost. It wasn't the refs. They had to call that hit on Burfict. He had three yards to pull up, and could clearly see he didn't catch the ball and tries to paralyze Antonio Brown. He's going to get a nice suspension and a huuuuge fine. He just embarrassed the NFL on a national stage.
Yeah I was going to root for Denver either way also. And I'll be a huge chief fan next week. This was on par with beckham. That went on way longer actually, and he was erased from the game. At least burfict made some big plays. Pitt shouldn't get a pass either. They were instigating, dancing, and inciting Cincy all game. Cincy got the retaliation flags, but both did their part to make this an ugly game.
Jones got flagged because the Refs were told to keep a tight reign on this game and the play before with Burfict set tensions higher and when Jones got involved in a push and shove around the injury it was going to draw a flag. As for those saying the flag should have been on Porter, in most circumstances that would be true but players are allowed on the field when a player is down like that. Maybe the refs should have kept players off the field but .... As for those blaming the refs.... The Bengals had the game won...all they needed to do was kneel 3 times and kick a field goal...end of game.... The Bengals instead fumbled on a run. The Bengals then started to lose their composure. Then Burfict made the really stupid penalty that brought the Steelers in to long field goal range with 18 seconds left in the game, time for 2 or 3 plays. But Jones got suckered and took the bait...lost his composure and made it easy for the Steelers. The players knew the refs were keeping a tight reign on this game, the clubs were talked to by league officials... Players were kept separated before the game. No one to blame for that loss but the Bengals....they shot themselves in the foot repeatedly. For those upset that the steelers won...get over it, yes they beat out the Jets for the playoff spot but that's the Jets fault, all the Jets needed to do was beat the Bills....whine and cry about the Steelers all you want, but just like the Bengals can only blame themselves for todays loss the Jets only have themselves to blame for losing to the Bengals, albeit not in such devastating fashion. *edtit, I meant losing to the Bills, not the Bengals...sigh
