Manning had surgery on his nerve twice. He will not be the same. Nerves do not heal the way muscles and bones do. He will never be able to reach his past strength and fitness levels.

    Johnny,
I agree with alot of what you say on this board, my question is at what point do we say Mark is just not doing it? Is it after this year with a new O.C. or do we say it was a new system and he needs more time? At a certain point either Mark is the man or he needs to go....

time to put all our eggs in one basket and risk it
if it doesn't come off - it doesn't come off

Will Peyton Manning be worse than Sanchez the last 3 years? Almost impossible. Definitely take the risk and become instant Super Bowl Contenders.

Who gets the point if he's better than Sanchez but has to get rolled out on a stretcher? Hopefully we'll get Chad as QB2 so we can trot Chadwick right out in Peyton's wake. Strong messages are important to send.

On the one hand I'm scared that if we sign Manning he gets hurt or underperforms or leaves after a year and we lose whatever we have in Sanchez.

On the other I'm scared that we pass, Manning signs elsewhere and is incredible for four or five years, whilst Sanchez never manages to raise his game above what we've seen.

There are obviously huge risks and huge unknowns in signing Peyton Manning, but there are also huge risks and huge unknowns in committing to Mark Sanchez. At the end of the day, which set of risks are you happier to assume?

Signing Manning and failing will be a bigger heartache than keeping Sanchez and failing. Are we resistant to Manning because we are scared of hope? Are we justifying passing on him because if we don't try we can't fail?

Did this franchise learn nothing from the Farve error?

I was initially all for Peyton, only because I want to see some major change that could put us over the top to win a superbowl, but now the more I think about it, the more I don't like it. Peyton has played 15 years on a team that has designed it's entire philosophy, offense, and personnel around his particular skill sets. I'm not saying Peyton isn't an amazing quarterback, but perhaps he was all that much better because everything around him was tailored for him. You take a guy like that out of his natural system, and into a Jets team that he is very much not used to, on top of a questionable neck injury, and you got to wonder if he could ever play anywhere near his old self.

or perhaps Sanchez can actually develop into a QB we hope he can be and having him for the next 10 years is better than having Peyton for four.

Thank you. Everyone forgets how giants fans wanted Eli out of New york after his 3rd season.
No Peyton please. That's another Favre. I respect Peyton a lot for what he has accomplished and he has been a favorite of mine but to risk putting this team back more years is something I wouldn't be able to stand.

Peyton Manning will not become a Jet! We Simply cannot spend the money he would require to get him on this team. Yeah Iv seen the stories that he will take an incentive laden deal , but that means just about nothing . He will want big money and will get it from other teams that have the room to spend it like that. We cannot just throw away our off season and free agency period for this one player. Way too many holes to fill to get Peyton killed or for a year or two.

Yeah you got me ! I just started watching football the last 3 years. Before that I did crossword puzzles and 12 down is Macrame. The point is Sanchez is half as good as Peyton at this time. Let go of the fantasy that Manning will be a Jet because we don't need him. Its a fact that Sanchez Out performed both of these Gods of football in the playoffs and will continue to do so with the proper supporting cast. Enjoy!

I would love the Jets to win a SB, and whilst I would take one with Peyton at the helm over nothing at all it wouldnt feel the same, I cannot root so much for a guy that is so closely associated with another franchise which is why I could never warm to Favre.

With the news of Peyton Mannings release and all biases put aside whether you want to sign him or not. If the jets were to go after Manning, what are all the reasons Peyton would want to come to the jets?

Right now Sanchez has two years on his contract, within that time I feel as though this organization must give him as much as he needs in order to succeed, meaning repairing the Oline, Fixing the WR core, having some consistency at RB, and re-solidify the defense. Within that time, if/when this is done, Sanchez's game as a whole, his leadership on this team, and belief in him must be examined meticulously as he finishes out his contract.

In 2014 this organization as a whole must look at Sanchez and decide whether or not he is making consistent strides to becoming an all around good to great QB as well as whether or not he has had the right dose of success surrounding him on the team.

This kid has shown he can win in big games, he has shown that he is becoming a better player each and every year. Three years of being a QB isn't enough of a sample size to figure out if he can be the QB of the future. Drafting a kid as good as he can be and giving up on him so quickly is just not the right answer, especially since some other great QBs around now and in the past have never done the things Sanchez has done in his first three years on this team.

I personally believe that Sanchez will be very successful in his career ,as long as he is given the right amount of time. There is really no exact time frame right now but as long as he continues to improve as a player , we should really value what his capabilities can truly become, and what unique of an opportunity we have as fans of this team to finally have and watch a franchise QB grow in front of our eyes.

Give him a chance, I can promise you that you won't be disappointed in the long run.
