So unless something is "written," it's not valid? This is a messageboard, and I have a right to state my opinion.

In any case, it doesn't have to be written anywhere for it to be a valid point. It's common sense, really. Here's an analogy for you: If you were Obi Wan and saw great potential in your understudy Anakin, would you just let Anakin join the dark side without voicing your resistance?

Haha, excuse me for the lame star wars analogy, but I think it works well for this argument.

    That there's the money shot.

Herm never did improve. Still, #1 Jets Fraud would want us to gift him a contract extension.

It is ironic that after watching teams turn around NFL seasons in 1 off season, people who call themselves fans will write off THEIR team in MAY!!! way not be a fan somewhere else??

    1. Head coaching - TBD
    2. Head coaching - TBD
    3. No true WR threat - Coles if Healthy was only 2 years ago a top 10 WR. Maybe the new OC can take advntage of McCareins, I can't be that pessimistic.
    3. our OL - draft took the edge off of this concern
    4. CB's - free agency and draft last year addressed this for now.
    5. QB's Even if Chad comes back 100% how long will he be on the field before he get hurt again. Back ups are just too young. TBD, can't assess until Chad is assessed, Ramsey could be Brees in a Bottle, or not, worst case, Clemons gets reps and starts his training earlier than expected.
    6. We have no proven pass rusher since our dumb asses got rid of Abe. Scheming will help take care of this
    7. Head coaching - I would like to look at the positive side of this coaching change, and hope that Mangini will bring a lot of energy to both sides of the ball, I think it will be a plus change, no a neagtive.

There have been plenty of first time head coaches that were successful, and I hope Mangini is another one of them.

As a long time Jets fan I would rather start this season with some level of optimism especially after a solid draft, a pretty moderate schedule and a regime change. It's all I could ask for going into a season.

Look, here is the only list of reasons you need to know that the jets WILL win the superbowl:
    1. We are Jets fans
    2. They are the Jets
The only way you can possibly think we won't win the superbowl is a lack of faith, and can you really be a true fan without faith? NO

Highly recommended by BP???? Where did you get that bit of info????
BP was done with the Jets by 01. Did he even know who Herm was considering that Herm had been with the Bucs for several years......

Second statement. George Seifert won a SB in his first year being a HC. Mike Martz first year he was with a SB caliber team
AL F'ng Groh took over a bad team????
Ray Handley took over the Giants when they were still good.
So its not "just about every HC first chance is with a bad team"

I can see you don't fellow the Jets it was BP who hired Herm.

Who are Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Roger Criag, Ronnie Lott etc.? WOW! You gave one example that a coach took over a "SB caliber team". For every one you name I will name ten.

I just want everyone to see that sentence right there. That's classic sig material, and if I didn't have winston's masterpiece down there I'd use it.

    This is from wikipedia..

Parcells would also leave the organization after the 2000 season, to be replaced by Kansas City Chiefs executive Terry Bradway.

I dont usually do this, but you are a friggin tool. BP was done with the Jets after the 2000 season. The Herm hire was all Bradway. I will repeat this:

The Herm hire was all Bradway!

Do you really follow the Jets?

The out of order hiring was not BP picking the new head coach before Bradway came on board. Bradway hired Herm.

The out of order hiring was Bradway also hiring Ted Cottrell to be defensive coordinator instead of letting Herm pick his own DC. That really screwed the Jets up for a couple of seasons.

Here is another one just to prove how wrong you are. This is from The Sporting News in 2001.

Bradway was hired last week after Bill Parcells resigned as chief of football operations.

    http://archive.sportingnews.com/nfl/articles/20010118/288456.html

    BP resigns
    Bradway gets hired
Bradway hires Herm because of the relationship they had in Kansas City.

Now tell me again how Herm was highly recommended by BP????? and show some proof to this and not some mindless rant.

Yes, well all know what the deal was. It was the same EXACT offer they gave to Ellis. The FO offered it to Abe first, during one of his injury periods I might add. Even then though the contract was VERY good all standards, he turned it down wanting more gauranteed money. They then offered the SAME deal to Ellis, who signed. Abe got greedy, simple.

They offered the deal to Abe first, when he refused, then they offered it to Ellis.

Where's the proof? It has already been well documentated that Herm was hired by TB because of their previous relationship.
Show me proof that BP recommended Herm otherwise your statement is definitively false.
I have shown enough to prove my side where is yours?

Just remember this Dolphin fan. People said the same thing about Saban last year. How is he doing? And what was your response to the same criticism and analysis of the dolphins' new head coach before the season even started?

1,2,7...How can you criticize Mangini like that when he hasn't even coached a game yet??? He will pull through IMO, he looks like a smart guy...
3...This is the one thing I agree with...We definitely need a playmaking WR before do anything special...
3...our O-line??? what else could we have done to make it better??? take the two best O-lineman in the draft, pickup some solid FA lineman, and keep the young good ones from last year...and then there's Kendall...I don't see your point...
4...our CB's will be better then last year I believe...this is because Miller won't be a rookie, Dyson was a very solid addition, and the fact that Mangini specializes in making the DB's better...this is the least of my worries..
5...QB's will do as well as the O-line does...and from what I see, the O-line is vastly improved, hence, the QB position should improve as well, no matter who is in there...Chad/Patrick/Kelly
6...no proven pass rusher??? and what exactly is Shaun Ellis??? a bum??? I don't think so...watch him flourish w/out Abe causing distractions all year long...time to focus...

That's my take...there you go...you were wrong for everything IMO, except for the WR position...we need more than Coles, Cotch, and JMac
