NOthing wrong with this thread. The biggest problem this season will be there is no compensation on the team. The Head coach is learning, so no matter how good he will be, in his first year he won't coach well enough to over come problems in the team. The same for the QB, OL, RB's, CB's, DL. No part of this team will perform at an high enough level to bail out the other parts, is what I see as well and I think is what Jet's#1 is getting at. It's the truth. I still hope they win, but it's no reason to jump on somebody for speaking what is clear to 8 year olds. Rigth now I see nothing for this team to lean on. NOt coaching, not offence, not Defence, not Run D, not pass D, not running the Ball, and not throwing the ball. It's all an toss up week in and out.
Do u know what the offer was, because i highly suspect u dont know the full details of the offer. And why is 33 sacks over 4 years considered average now a days.Ellis never did that and never will do that. Dwight Freeney has played 4 years so and has an average of .809 sacks per game,Abe average is .744, is it really that bad. When John Abraham played he was probably the 3rd best pure pass rusher in the league behind Peppers and Freeney. Yes he was injured i know that but saying he was a me-first player because he said that he didnt wanted to play in a playoff game because he didnt want to get futher damage to his leg is stupid.Dont blame a player for being smart and thinking about his future and realizing this game is a business and if he got injured he wouldnt be able to get a good deal on his contract. Also this isnt my thread
First off, I'm a Dolphins fan (let the bashing begin). I registered here because I feel that the Jets are our #1 rival, and I just wanted to get different feedback from a different fan base. In response to what you said: #1) Correct #2) Correct #3) I think Coles is good, and McCareins has underachieved. But he has the potential to be good. #3) Your OL, while you have had some subtractions, you have two great young prospects to replace Mawae and Fabini. Not sure of who else you picked up for the OL. #4) No Law. And I think the only guys I can recall by name at CB are Barrett and Strait (spelling?) #5) I don't think Chad will come back 100%. If he does, he won't play much, and I think his career is over as a consistent starter. You have Ramsey. Young, has the arm, just needs the experience. Before we got any QB's, I wanted and would of loved for Ramsey to be a Fin. I think he'll be servicable for a couple years, but not the future. And you still have Bollinger right? He played well against the Fins, but then again you expect even the sh!tiest of sh!t to play well against us. #6) Abraham was a big time player, and a big time loss. If I'm not mistaken, you still have three 1st round DL. With talent like that on the line, someone has to step it up. #7) Correct I don't know if you did it intentionally, but you counted wrong (I just followed your pattern). And I'm proud that at least ONE Jets fan can admit their not going to win 9+ games. But you guys still suck. Anyways, just a Dolphins fan persepctive.
you'll get a lot of people on here who are haters when a player is looking out for there future or when they are no longer a Jet.
The offer was a mirror image of the one accepted by Ellis, which by DE standards, was highly generous. You can't compare Ellis and Abe in terms of performance-two entirely different players. Ellis is a complete end, able to pressure on the run and the pass- his stats speak for themselves- looking beyond the failed DT year. Abe, on the other hand, is a one dimensional player who compiled the great majority of his sacks against inferior teams with weak lines, ex New Orleans. Of course you are going to look good when you put up multiple sacks in several games over the course of a season. Are we supposed to look past his no-show in Oakland? He is and will always be a "me-first" player. Yes, I do fault the guy for not stepping on the field when his team needed him most in the last playoff game- if you are too immature to see what the bigger picture was (team well being vs. your contract) then both of you should sit in the corner with pacifiers in your mouths. You want to talk balls, putting it all on the line, look at TO. Yes, the guy is a complete scumbag and waste of space, but when his team needed him most he overrode the Dr's advice and stepped onto the field, having not fully recovered from a BROKEN leg. That kind of move could have put the nail in his coffin where the guy wouldn't play again, but he sucked it up, suited for the game and stepped onto the field. Abe is gone, sorry to burst your bubble. Maybe you should go buy that Atlanta jersey now. I assure you that you are in the minority when you ask folks on this board whether they miss one-dimensional Abe. No love lost here, the door has slammed behind him...
just because I call myself #1 Jets Fan I suppose to think there going to be good even when everything points to where not. I call it like I see it and I'm not going to try and fool myself, plus I said this season. Don't get me wrong I hope I'm wrong and if I am I will be the 1st on here to admit I was wrong.
Not only was it not bad, it was top five in the league. We should have gotten more for an probowler, but I can understand they wanted him gone.
And? Some people are vocal about thinking the team will do well. I disagree for what I believe are obvious reasons, but I'm not going to intrude on their right to be optimistic. I might offer up some debate, but nothing in the form of a magnanimous thread stating why the Jets are going to suck. I have a hard time thinking of a person right now that could be more undeservedly magnanimous.
It's ok to be "vocal" as long as it about "the team will do well"? To me if you don't make the playoffs the season sucked. I guess I'm not allowed to speak my mind.
In fact i will buy Abe jersey cause i luv him so much, but ima still be a jet fan. U cant compare T.O. to Abe cause unlike T.O. he already had a contract for the next 5 years, unlike Abe who was continuelly put on as the franchise player. And if u are going to sign Ellis to a big deal wouldnt a player like Abe say to himself hey im a much better player than Ellis so why would u even offer me a deal this is what u said on the same level as Ellis. If abe is so one dimensional why did we rank so high in rush defence in 04.Why doesnt he just play linebacker for us if he cant run defend.Abe if u watched the games last season dint always get sacks but he was always near the qb providing pressure. Why should a player risk his whole future knowing how the FO has treated him the past years with not giving him a contract extension. How could u trust them if u got really hurt in the game against Pit, they could have just cut u and your playing days would have been in jeopardy. But u as a average fan would just see the team side of it and not see the business side of things.Im all for team but Abe should have gotten his money along time ago.
OK, you made your point, what now? Why bitch about it? Why not look forward to moving forward? This is a new coaching staff, and we have a lot of young players. We are doing the right thing and headed in the right direction. It take no genius to figure we will struggle this year, and I think thats the general opinion of most fans. So why beat this dead horse thread? We hear you.......
Your right id rather have us win 4-5 games to be in a position to draft a better player than have us go 8-8 and miss the playoffs.
Your post history alone is enough to induce a gag reflex in most of the regulars I've read here, but I'll humor you. Let's assume that you are honestly without the knowledge to begin a constructive debate on this board. By this I mean you can't begin a thread without telling people how much their team is going to SUCK, or how you hope our former coach that flew the coop like a weasel wins the Super Bowl over the defeated backs of our beloved Jets, or other such similarly inflammatory drivel. I believe such an occurrence would be caused by one or two things. A) You don't care enough about all those letters on the computer screen that are supposed to be people enough to actually converse with them like human beings, or B) you are just mentally incapable of learning. Why then would people react to your post (which is their right as members) in any manner but what you are used to? Anyway, I think it's all academic, because I think you know exactly what you're doing.
