Imo, not very healthy and constructive to look back and lament. Just move on and deal with what's at hand. I think the real worry is what happens if the Jets don't get the #1. The fixation on Lawrence and what he brings to this franchise is fine, but it's still not a sure bet. If the Pats come in a lay an egg, as they are very capable of, Jets could pull this one out. IF that happens, Jax's #1 is in the bag. Then we'll have to debate on what new coach will come, if Gase is fired, to decide the QB situation. I can see this forum imploding....
Yes. It would become disheartening if we lost out on Trevor Lawrence but the next decision would become super easy; we then draft Justin Fields out of Ohio State #2 overall because regardless; Sam has to go. Justin Fields throughout 28 NCAA games has a winning record of 25-3 and has combined for 313/448 (69.9%), 51 TDs/3 INTs along with an insane QB Rating of 184.8 (also a dual threat QB with 800 rushing yards and 15 rushing TDs). I haven't watched too many Fields games because I've been so focused on Trevor Lawrence but every time I've watched Justin Fields I've been super impressed and judging by his absolute statistical dominance he's 2x the QB prospect that Sam Darnold was coming out and more than worthy of the #2 overall pick. Lawrence or Fields it doesn't matter but Sam must go.
Ugh hindsight is 20/20... NO ONE was talking about Mahomes as a big time can't miss prospect at the time
