That bomb TD to Sammy Coates was the exact same play the Steelers ran on the 1st play of the game the week before against KC. The exact same play. Your defense has been getting beat deep all season. You watch your opponent the week before run a successful deep pass play. How do you not prepare for that????
anecdotal. Carolina is 1-4 after going 15-1 last year with pretty much the same team. actually they are better off on offense this year with Benjamin back. Nobody got fired
Love how Pryor nonchalantly jogs into the play toward the end. Would like to see the 22 film but I would think he is supposed to provide over the top help there.
In years past the guy who would call the defense on the field was Harris. This year and last year it's been Gilchrist, and it seems like safety has been a glaring weakness this year and the reason always provided by coaches and teammates is "communication".
Players are not robots......Todd Bowles cant coach them into covering someone. Our secondary just sucks it has little to do with coaching and more to do with talent. But the scheme could be a bad fit either way we are fucked.Meanwhile in Buffalo Rex is blowing teams out every week.
Try schemes...that is the issue your playing more 4-3 with 3-4 personnel and it shows. You have people playing zone who play ten yards off the WR and still get beat deep. Where is the safety help on all those plays....
I'd love to switch Marc Will back to the outside and Buster in the nickel. I'd also like to see us play more traditional... all todd bowles exotic blitzes and stuff suck this year and they aren't even working.. it's only causing us to leave our corners on an island which with the right QB and WR speed will kill ANY defense idc if it's LOB... it's just suicidal to keep doing that especially since our corners are more physical than fast... but our scheme is causing them to play off so they really have no advantages on anyone. One more thing I'd like to see is some more 3 safety sets like TB did in AZ and a little last year. We brought back Antonio Allen, USE HIM! Let him shadow overtop of whoever is in the middle or allow him and Gilchrist to play coverage which would allow Pryor back into the box where he's an entire different beast at.
Either way it's LITERALLY the same guys from last years defense, and they were pretty good last year. I'm thinking miscommunication and bad coaching before the talent honestly.
I'm also thinking that we aren't paying a total creampuff schedule. I can't believe so many people were jaded after playing mostly crap teams last year. 10 wins. How many teams beaten that were over .500? My main concern when they went shopping in FA was that the players had no cohesion or success together. We're seeing that now.
Yeah but how much of that is coaching too? If it's not coaching, the only thing i can think of is they have changed who makes the calls in the backfield. I believe it was Gilchrist last season wasnt it? Is it being split between he and Pryor. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
or not... our corners are burnt toast so he has to play back in coverage away from all the action. He's not a good cover safety he's a box/run support safety. Last year he got the chance to roam freely in the box and he caused havoc... this year he can't do that.. unfortunate for him.
The Cardinals happen to have 4 good receivers and Floyd who has sucked this year is really big and tough to cover. Revis was on Fitzgerald Island all night. Nobody can cover the Cardinals WR for any length of time and if they can Johnson is going to burn you out of the backfield. The Cardinals have a very good Defensive backfield and can't cover most teams if they don't get pressure. Since the Pats beat the Rams in the SB the first time the league has made it virtually impossible for CB's to cover any above average NFL passing attack. Seattle couldn't cover Atlanta's WR corp and only a missed called won them the game on Sunday. The Jets problem last night was they couldn't stop the run and didn't get enough pressure up the middle on Palmer. The Cardinals D came to play, stopped the run and had Fitz under pressure all night. Even with the pressure and a very solid secondary their were guys open. It was the pressure not the coverage that did in your passing game.
Meanwhile Cooks is killing it in NO while we needed a WR as bad as hell we went DB (if he was drafted by us he would probably stink)
Now that we have seen the result I think this is a fair question to ask: Do you still think that Antonio Cromartie wouldn't have been worth keeping around?
