According to Wikipedia he did call the plays in 06 but it doesn't actually list him as the OC just the playcaller.
Actually he was the offensive coordinator for the running game back in 06. Todd Haley ran the passing game.
Yeah, Parcells always shrouded playcalling duties in secrecy. IIRC, Dallas had a passing coordinator and a running coordinator under Parcells. But Sparano never officially held OC duties.
He called their offensive plays in 06. Google it, can't post a link from my phone. Edit: I'll cede to others if he was just running game coordinator. Regards, he at least has some experience.
At the very least, it's likely he and Rex will be on the same page when it comes to what they want to see from the offense. He's a devoted ground-and-pound guy. Plus, I think he's a guy who won't be afraid to turn up the heat on Sanchez, whereas Schotty seemed to want to be his best friend.
If you like conservative, close to the vest, try and win it at the end football, Tony is your man. No doubt you will be a run oriented team that relies on ball control and defense. He is very meticulous and players play hard for him. The down side is he doesn't know how to develop a QB evidenced by his taking an average QB in Henne and turning him into garbage. I guarantee he is going to install a 3 second buzzer on Sanchez to force him into quicker decisions. Didn't work in Miami, let's see how Sanchez can handle it.
Sporano at least seems like he has way more balls than Schotty. Maybe he's the type of guy we need to chew off the heads of divas like Santonio Holmes
relax, Sparano is only a rumor coming from this asshole: Hue Jackson has to be the leading candidate right now
From Sparano's Wikipedia page: "Sparano was the offensive play-caller for Dallas in 2006, but ceded the responsibilities to new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett the following season."
At least one Jets beat writer was reporting as well. It is being picked up everywhere with no dispute that I can see. I think you might be in denial.
Sparano was hired by new Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells in 2003,[5] rising from tight ends coach to assistant head coach in his five seasons in Dallas. Sparano was the offensive play-caller for Dallas in 2006, but ceded the responsibilities to new offensive coordinator Jason Garrett the following season. So he knows what he's doing. Rather than everyone undermining him for never being an OC.
