He's a big boy though...maybe he needs some hardcore training..being in the peace corps probably made him lazy
It will all come down to the training camp. With our new coaching staff every player is out to prove themselves. Even the stars.
I don't know what to expect from Pouha, but he looked like garbage to me every time he set foot on the field. Maybe it was just lack of coaching, or maybe he just wasn't motivated being on a team that quit so early in the season. If he's given a chance by Mangini, I'll reserve judgment, but I haven't seen enough to be enthusiastic. Who knows? Maybe he's an excellent fit in the 3-4.
He has the "potential" and "ability" to be a starting NT. Whether he ever realizes both is the question.
From the couple of times I saw him in games and tried paying attention to only him, he looked like he played VERY high and just held his ground against Olineman-- no push, no penetration, no moving the pocket. Just standing there engaged for eternity. I think its more motivation and technique based than talent that is preventing him from more contributions.
That is how I feel as well, never showed me anything but I'm holding out hope that with the new scheme/staff he can at least fill in the rotation and give us strong spot duty. We will see.... By the way, Pouha was never in the Peace Corps, he did a mission for the Latter Day Saints.
I do not know enough about him to say anything, he looked slow when he did play and had no burst through the gaps, looks as if he will just fade away.
Jet fans continue to be high on Bradway's workout warrior 1st day draft pick garbage. We are entering year five of the 'Bryan Thomas hasn't been given a chance by Herman Edwards'
well the difference is pouha now has ONE year under his belt, while he hasnt shown anything............that doesnt mean he cant contribute. new coaching staff, lets see it all play out in training camp.
Im not putting puha down, but he doesnt have the stamina to be a starter in the nfl, a backup to give a startinf NT a breather then yeah, but untill he upgrades his stamina level he wont be anything but a backup.
I don't know how Herm Edwards is everybody. Most people on this site also want to see him get a chance, and as far as I know, few people are down on him.
I think it's too early to judge a guy after a seaseon when he was hardly used or injured in his rookie season. Give the people a chance to prove themselves.
