Nice catch Dressen... so yes cimini is a fucking scumbag and now he can't even write his own stories. In other words, he fits right in at ESPN as a second rate reporter amoung a cast of second rate reporters.

Yeah, the guy gets bashed for that move every time as if he wasn't aware of the CBA situation...when everyone on this board knew about em.

What Tanny did not know was that Revis wanted a $100 mil contract over 6 years.

I was looking at the 100 mill contracts and it turns out they're all 7-10 yrs deal... and for non-QBs they contain unreachable bonuses (like Haynesworth's contract).

The longer the contract, the less the money per year avg. Only way Revis could sign an Aso deal is by agreeing to a short term contract but the Jets have (rightly) no interest in offering him that...

^yeah, we already have him for 3 years, so offering even a 4 year $60 mil contract would essentially be a 1 year extension for about $40mil. A new 6 years $90 mil contract would be a 3 years $70mil extension, something that is not thinkable at the moment in the NFL for a CB (or any other position, even Manning's).

The only leverage Revis has is his talent. Jets can sit back and enjoy his services for 3 years with out having to dole out any signing bonus, or Revis can agree on a 6 years EXTENSION worth $80 mil (making it essentially a 9 years, $100 mil contract). 6 years $80 mil is huge so Revis should be happy about it. 9 years 100 mil is great for the best defender in the NFL, keeping Jets happy. Problem is, Revis wants a NEW contract and Jets don't have any interest doing so.
