The defense DOES get a pass - from Rex week after week. Why would you blitz Tebow AT ALL? You know the only way he can beat you is by running the ball away from the all-out blitz. All they would have done is had him throw a five yard pass at most and set up the field goal, they were not risking him losing the game there. The only way for us to lose the game was by selling out. The Jets didn't blitz the rest of the game for a reason, they didn't need to. And they shouldn't have done it on the final play.
Don't get me wrong, this loss is on Sanchez, the line and your OC BUT I would be pissed at Revis and Cromartie. The talked major shit and then pussied out on the last drive choosing to not hit Tebow? Watch highlights from Texans-Bucs last week when the Texans CBs were bashing Josh Freeman and LeGarrette Blount who are both bigger than Tebow. Rex needs to change the tone on the defense.
Since rex has came in this D has definitely been above average. That being said they have never been able to get the big stop when they need it. The loss in 09 against the colts they ended up getting carved up in the 4th quarter by manning. Last year against the steelers again they couldn't stop big ben in the 4th when it counted most. Look at this year, we've seen it multiple times already. The first pats game they ran it down our throats on their last drive and we were left winded and confused. Now last night, tebow suddenly gains all this momentum and marches down the field. The lack of a pass rush is definitely a big problem as well. Hopefully we can snag a pass rusher early in the next draft because without adequate pressure i don't think this d will ever be the elite d that we hope/know it can be.
Probably because the defense held the opposing team to 10 points. Gotta be able to score points to win. Throwing Pick-6's and not being able to score points is more of a reason the Jets lost than the defense.
another touchdown in the 4th quarter that the defense gave up. this is supposed to be an elite defense yet they couldn't get a stop when we needed it. i dont wanna hear about them "having a good game with the exception of the last drive"
The defense gets a pass because they only allowed 10 points. The defense gets a pass because the offense was pitiful and couldn't put the game away. The defense gets a pass because with an even halfway competent offense, this team would probably be the best in the AFC. It's like having a goalie who allows two goals and people roast him because his team lost 2-1. People seem to expect perfection out of the defense because the offense sucks so bad.
You do realize they Blitzed to stop the run right? Not all blitz plays are only to get to the QB and out the TD it was designed to fill EVERY gap. Outside contain blew thier job and Tebow scored.
the past two years, we were in the top 3-5 overall defenses. this year, we're nowhere close to that in most categories. aging linebackers + mediocre safeties = our current D
The defense is good. It has shown a penchant of not stepping on someone's throat when they need to. You had to keep Tebow in the pocket. Why not use "mush" rush on him like the Eagles did against Vick back in the day?
we were top 3-5 in ranking aonly, we didn't have a real big time defense. This D has been folding late in games for 3 years now. They have had some great games, they did help us get to 2 title games so that counts too but I have such high expectations for this unit it's disappoitning when they continue to blow late leads.
