I was thinking the same. He seems like such a gamer that if he can't adjust to the game speed on defense, he could carve out a long career as a special teams player and depth linebacker.
The Ravens have made their living on this very premise. It looks like Maccagnan has tried to adopt some of these principles outside of maybe falling in love with Devin Smith's combine speed (although he's proved that it at the very least transferred to his play on the field in college). If a guy can play, a guy can play. Speed can kill, but it's a lot more important to see it on game tape than on a 40 time where players train specifically for that event without pads on, and using specific techniques that a track runner would use to put up a good time.
